GeneralSummary: A non-exempt medical office position responsible for front office processes in the physician practice
Adheres to and supportsthe mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of TenetPhysician Resources.
Adheres to the TenetHIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Demonstrates supportfor the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of complianceresponsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal andstate laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policiesthat affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reportingcompliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Greetingpatients entering the physician practice.
Answering officephones, making appointments, confirming appointments and rescheduling whennecessary.
Checks inpatients and collects accurate patient demographics, enters data intoelectronic system and verifies insurance.
Assists inchecking out patients and assists them with referral processing and schedulingprocess
Collectsco-pays and posts charges.
Chargeentry and patient balance processing.
Distributesinformation to patients regarding office policies, procedures, informationabout the practice, etc.
Explainand enroll patients in the patient portal.
Additionalresponsibilities as needed.
Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion medical office assistant program preferred.
Certification : Prefer healthcare management/administration certification.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical office setting
Knowledge of thirdparty payers regulations and requirements.
Knowledge of insuranceverification process
Understanding ofdocumentation required for physician appointments.
Knowledge of ElectronicHealth Systems
Knowledge of ICD-9and ICD – 10 CPT codes
Knowledge of thepolicies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to provide effectivepatient care.
