ASM Global Changeover Laborer in Worcester, Massachusetts

ASM Global , the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Part Time Changeover/Set up Laborer at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts 01608 . These are part time, union , event related positions which involve working overnights and weekends .

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direction, set-up and take down meeting rooms, ballrooms, exhibit halls and arena for various events

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in room set-ups and strikes, including but not limited to chairs, tables, risers/stages, stanchions, podiums and other equipment/furniture, etc.

  • Builds concert stages, installs hockey dashers, glass and related equipment

  • Install various sporting equipment as required

  • Installs ice for related events (both indoors and outdoors as needed)

  • Perform work in a safe manner at all times , notifying the Supervisor immediately of any accidents/incidents and any problems or damagers to facility or equipment

  • Operate walkie-talkie radio devices when required

  • Assist as needed/ required to clear snow & ice from around the facility & the outdoor skating rink if/when needed (ability to safely & effectively use snow blowers when doing these tasks)

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Previous experience with similar functions desirable

  • Licensed and Qualified forklift/platform lift operations desirable

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to use hand and small power tools when required both safely and effectively

  • Ability to listen and follow both verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to read and understand room set-up floor plans to complete tasks effectively

  • Present a neat and groomed appearance and demeanor at all times during the workday

  • Ability to wo rk a flexible schedule which include s nights, weekends, mid-shifts, earl y mornings and holidays, as needed

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • Must have professional attitude and appearance

  • Must be at least 18 years old

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    To perform this job successfully, this position requires lifting at least 65 lbs without assistance . This position also includes walking and standing for most of the assigned shifts, bending and stooping at times is required . These tasks may be performed in adverse conditions at times (loud noise, dust, inclement weather and movement of vehicles).
