This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Architectural Historian for our Worcester, MA office. The following locations will also be considered: Sacramento, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Tempe, AZ; Chicago, IL; Richmond, VA; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA . Be involved in projects with our Heritage Resource Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Architectural surveys

  • Determinations of eligibility for historic structures and districts

  • Historical research

  • Report writing

  • Community outreach

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in historic preservation, architectural history, architecture or a related discipline

  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience working in historic preservation or a related field

  • Prior experience working in tandem with federal and state agencies including direct experience working with the SHPO offices

  • Excellent demonstrated professional research and writing skills and experience

  • Experience preparing National Register nominations, Historic Structure Reports, Historic Contexts, and architectural surveys

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work cooperatively within a context of Heritage Resources professionals with diverse skills

  • Ability to travel to project sites
