Job Description

The Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) at Skyworks is responsible for the development of all core technologies, operations, and quality while driving strategic enhancements in the way that Skyworks leverages vertical integration capabilities and manufacturing investments. TMG encompasses research and development, central engineering, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain with the mission of building manufacturability into new technologies from inception. The organization is spearheading leading-edge industrial automation, best practices and analytics into all aspects of the operation and addresses the crucial demand for timely and flawless introduction of new technologies.

The role requires a technology expert in compound semiconductors with the knowledge of Wide and Ultra-Wide Bandgap semiconductors for RF applications and will directly oversee all aspects of GaN technology development, working in a high volume and fast paced production environment and will drive the execution of these plans across the TMG organization and functions. Seniority level will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • In depth knowledge of epitaxial growth techniques such as MBE, MOCVD with emphasis in growth of compound semiconductors

  • Optimization of epi material and associated process steps to maximize product yields and reliability

  • Driving epi quality with suppliers

  • Understanding of material stack-ups and their influence on pHEMT/HEMT device performance

  • Ability to engage with epi suppliers to drive process repeatability/quality improvements, based on assessment of electrical and process variability using statistical methods

  • Ability to identify and articulate the physical mechanisms behind the device’s experimental observations, including transient effects, device leakages and degradation

  • Strong in procedures and data driven by maintaining control documents critical to high volume manufacturing

  • Strong analytical and leadership skills and schedule driven with an emphasis in quality

  • Ability to write/update process specifications, including wafer acceptance criteria, working with development, quality, process and manufacturing engineering teams

Basic Qualification

  • Understanding of device fabrication process steps, yield analysis and DC/RF device parameters are a plus

  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor epi, device and process development, related to GaN semiconductors

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the GaN technical field

  • Experience in GaN device and process development as evidenced by peer reviewed publications and/or professional conference presentations

  • Experience driving large cross-organization initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to provide insight through a detailed review of operational results

  • Proven track record of using data and insights to drive process improvement

  • Experience in a global and multinational technology company

  • Strong cross-functional team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technology-related fields

Preferred Qualification

  • Technical aptitude and curiosity to develop deep domain expertise

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or other technology-related fields
