Terrafugia Mechanical Technician (Projected 5-6 Month Duration) in Woburn, Massachusetts

Terrafugia is a fast-paced, energetic company that is developing the world?s first practical flying car. We are currently looking for a world-class Mechanical Technician to join our vehicle development team and help complete a batch of validation prototype/demonstration vehicles. The projected duration of this assignment is 5-6 months, with potential conversion to a regular Full-Time position depending on future workload. Candidates should be self-starters who bring positive attitude, integrity, and enthusiasm to our team as we transform personal transportation.

As a Key Contributor You Will

Work closely with teams of Composite, Mechanical and Manufacturing Technicians to assemble prototype vehicles

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Interpret engineering drawings and instructions to assemble composite, mechanical, and electro-mechanical parts into subassemblies and prototype vehicles

  • Use jigs and fixtures to achieve high-quality assemblies and vehicles

  • Adhere to all specifications and standard practices relating to vehicle assembly

  • Fabricate assembly jigs & fixtures

  • Responsible for pulling and returning jigs and fixtures to their proper location

  • Accurately troubleshoot and document prototype work instructions and provide feedback to the Manufacturing Engineer

  • Accurately document completed assembly steps and the type and weight of material used

  • Willingness to work overtime as project schedule requires

  • Contribute to day to day department needs outside of vehicle assembly

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work within a team setting on individual projects

  • Flexibility to handle multiple projects at one time

  • Experience with interpreting technical drawings

  • Proficiency with shop equipment and hand tools used in composite vehicle assembly

  • Ability to use both hands with fine dexterity

  • Strong math and measuring skills

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized and able to maintain a clean work area

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Able to follow instructions and established processes and procedures carefully

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb.

  • Outstanding analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with aircraft, automotive or marine vehicle assembly

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance at times
