Overview of Role

ZwitterCo is seeking an energetic, versatile business development representative to drive sales of its cutting-edge membrane solutions into fast-growing, high-impact applications for water purification and wastewater reuse. This role is responsible for marketing, advocating, selling, and creating leads/opportunities for the company's products through consultative selling practices. The business development representative will promote these products to new and existing customers to attain monthly quota objectives. The business development representative must build relationships with end use customers to ensure growth in target market segments through a consultative sales approach

ZwitterCo has developed a breakthrough in materials science, a new class of zwitterionic membranes that are immune to fouling, making it practical and affordable to treat unconventional water and wastewater. Our mission is to provide industries with the tools to create clean water from every source, whether it involves accessing novel sources of water, shoring up distressed assets, or enabling onsite wastewater reuse. ZwitterCo was named Global Water Intelligence's 2023 Breakthrough Water Technology Company of the year and has commercial operations in multiple food and beverage, agricultural, and industrial sectors. The company is rapidly growing its global footprint, as well as advancing its technology platform to develop new tools that unlock broader water and wastewater applications.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Act as a missionary for ZwitterCo's unique technology:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with a focused purpose of educating and networking with the end-use customer to generate qualified opportunities while selling products to new customers through consultative selling practices.

  • Act as a liaison between sales engineers, channel managers, and end-use customers.

  • Target territory end-use customer contacts to drive brand preference, conversion, and product preference.

  • Recommend products or services to better meet the end-use customer's needs.

  • Competently deliver webinar/presentations to potential customers to drive business.

  • Effectively communicate with potential customers over the phone driving excitement and awareness of products and services.

  • Write professional, succinct, and articulate emails to prospective accounts.

  • Cold call target prospects to demonstrate product features and benefits.

  • Conduct “pre-call” investigative work to increase the ability to close the sale.

  • Manage and support sales administration, including:

  • Meet daily quotas of dials, talk-time, and social media touches.

  • Record daily activity and market intelligence in CRM system.

  • Actively support and serve as a resource for other sales team members.

  • Maintain customer data in a CRM system.

  • Perform all responsibilities in an ethical manner that represents ZwitterCo's values and vision.

  • Understand and exceed customer needs, both stated and unarticulated.

  • Clearly understand ZwitterCo's strategy and take initiative in achieving commercial team goals.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or equivalent sales experience is required.

  • At least 2-5 years of inside or outside consultative sales experience with a record of success.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite and leading CRM tools, like Salesforce or HubSpot.

  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Schedule, Travel, Compensation, and Location

This position is based in Woburn, MA; however, remote work is an option for highly qualified non-local candidates, and will report directly to the Vice President of Sales.

This position will require minimal travel, but some overnight travel may be required.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and include equity and benefits.
