AeroVironment Vendor Manager in Wilmington, Massachusetts
The primary role of the Vendor Manager, Sr. is to plan, organize, and manage all vendor relationships, contracts, procurement, SLAs for the Digital Business Technology department. He/ She ensure due diligence in vendor evaluation, setup, implementation, deployment, and post-launch of software and hardware or services. This position includes developing, maintaining, supporting, optimizing the use of internal processes and tools to manage the spending and costs of all of our vendors and working with senior management to assess actuals vs. budget, and negotiating better pricing for AV.
Review and understand all departmental vendors, current contracts, SLAs, and pricing.
Document all contracts into our internal database, with pricing, SLA, expiration, and signed documents
Develop a budgetary assessment of overall vendor costs by category to review drivers, cost savings, and streamlining opportunities.
Manage relationships with vendors and propose new vendors or better fit when appropriate.
Leverage metrics to identify opportunities and drive efficiencies in the business.
Identify roadblocks, brainstorm solutions, and drive the resolution of problems.
Be the single-threaded owner responsible for vendor management through our projects.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver results on projects and ensure excellent vendor delivery.
Conduct business reviews with Senior Leaders of the department regarding business progress and roadblocks.
Develop real-time dashboard per vendor and all vendors, as to SLAs and Cost and Performance.
Define a strategy for the business and break it down into actionable goals.
Institute best practices and processes which can be replicated across all categories.
Lead change with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties while meeting tight deadlines.
Continually monitor sales trends to determine which products are more popular than others utilizing analytical research data (Gartner magic quadrants).
Frequently interacts with customers and functional peer group managers, typically involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Technology Management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Minimum 8+ years related work experience managing diverse vendor relationships within an IT department.
Minimum of 6+ years of Information Technology, Computer Science, and Engineering background
Minimum of 6+ years of experience working on managing contracts, reading contracts, negotiating to price, and managing SLAs with vendors
Demonstrates an expert knowledge of current and potential vendors.
Demonstrates an expert understanding of their products and offerings.
Selects vendors for systems used at the enterprise level.
Manages relationships with vendors.
Mentor employees in developing vendor knowledge
Ability to work in an office environment (Constant).
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent).
