Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

Largo Resources Ltd ( XTSE: LGO ) , a global leader in Vanadium oxide mining, has launched a new US venture Largo Clean Energy. The company’s mission is to commercialize a proprietary grid scale energy storage system, utilizing Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) technology coupled with Largo Resources’ Vanadium supply. We are seeking highly motivated and talented team members to achieve this challenging goal.

The position of Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is a very important and highly responsible position within the company and, as such, demands a high degree of dedication, independence, flexibility, sound judgment, and reliability. Largo Clean Energy is implementing a battery stack production line at its Andover, Massachusetts headquarters. This is a vital role to its strategic initiatives.

A successful member on this team will be a self-starter with a proven track record of utilizing solid fundamental engineering practices and have a strong understanding of manufacturing practices for mechanical/electrical products utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies. Focus on Quality and continuous improvement are essential characteristics and central to the team’s culture.

Key Work Functions:

  • Responsible for development and implementation of LCEs battery stack manufacturing line

  • Design, develop and source advanced manufacturing equipment such as laser welding, robotic adhesive bonding, leak testing

  • Implementation of key APQP documentation requirements (Process flow diagram, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, Work instructions, Operator Training materials etc.)

  • Develop and maintain engineering process specifications

  • Communicate and train operators with work instructions

  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of manufacturing process defects

  • Measure, record and report statistical process control data for continuous improvement and root cause analysis

  • Develop Quality Management System (QMS) document for ISO9001 certification

  • Coordinate and implement ISO9001 practices in manufacturing process for certification


  • BS-Mechanical Engineering or related field required

  • 5+ years professional experience in manufacturing plant or advanced products division required

  • Previous experience in high volume manufacturing industry

  • Previous experience with structured manufacturing and quality processes such as APQP

  • Strong practical knowledge of CAD software tools such as PTC Creo

  • Strong experience in manufacturing equipment design and sourcing

  • Hands on, self-starter who will not wait for direction

  • Extensive and practical understanding of the product development life cycle

  • Previous experience with FMEA and PFMEA

  • Comfortable on manufacturing floor interacting and directing priorities

  • Understanding of materials, engineering theory and principles of design and manufacturing

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Creative and relentless problem solver

    Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

  • Fluent in English

  • Available to support 1st shift manufacturing operation with potential 7:00am start time
