Alta Equipment Company Outside Sales Representative in Wilmington, Massachusetts

Alta Equipment Company is seeking a talented individual for an aftercare sales representative position covering the Boston area reporting to our Wilmington, MA location. We are looking for a highly motivated After-Care Field Sales team member to help us grow our aftermarket business. Some of our main product lines are Hyster & Yale forklift trucks, JCB Construction Equipment, Advance Industrial Floor Sweepers & Scrubbers, and JLG aerial lifts.

This is a territory sales position, with the majority of time being spent in the field conducting business to business sales calls. The responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Compensation is Salary plus Commission

  • Daily use of our customer relationship management system.

  • Quoting and selling repairs, preventative maintenance and maintenance contracts, parts and rental

  • Territory development with a focus on customer acquisition and retention

  • Team with the Branch Manager to develop new accounts

  • Collaborate with the sales department to generate leads for new equipment and aftermarket

  • Building, growing, and maintaining business relationships relating to parts and service on all equipment Alta represents

  • Incorporates Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree prefered or equivalent work experience

  • Communicates professionally in person, by phone and email.

  • Professional appearance and excellent time management skills.

  • Knowledge of forklifts and/ or construction equipment is a plus; however, candidates with comparable industry experience, a strong sales acumen and record of achievement will also be considered

  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft Office programs

  • Self-motivated

  • Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and automobile insurance.

  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will sit; Occasionally will stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell

  • Vision: No special vision requirements

  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift 26 to 50 pounds

  • Work Environment: Frequently will work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
