About the Role:
Textron has a legacy of high temperature, high performance composite materials dating back to the Apollo spacecraft heatshield system. We are leveraging this materials legacy and ultra high performance materials successes to expand our advanced material presence into todays challenges in propulsion and other aggressive thermomechanical applications. Textron seeks a unique talent to help visualize this presence and be a technical expert.
Major Position Responsibilities:
Support hands on and engineering product and process development of a wide variety of composite materials and processesIdentify limitations of current state of the art and offer development activities leveraging Textron capabilities.Work as part of a multi discipline project team consisting of materials scientists, thermal mechanical modeling, modeling and simulation.Contribute as a technical expert to build state of the art manufacturing and test facilities for prototype through production.Be a customer contact from proposal through development
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
Minimum of 5 years' experience developing and manufacturing composite materials for the aerospace industry.Experience developing and manufacturing composites materials. Preferrable (but not necessary) experience in high temperature composites in carbon/carbon , carbon phenolic, or ceramicsKnowledge of fiber reinforcement offerings with emphasis on high performance carbon fibers ceramic fibersUnderstanding of thermal properties testing, erosion and ablation.Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance
Required Education (including Major)
Bachelors' degree in engineering or materials science, including plastics engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering How We Care
