The Challenge

As an Application Chemist Organize and execute all activities, necessary to progress assigned projects inconsultation with the application specialist, Industry Manager or relevant project manager. Beside the projectactivities the Application Chemist is expected to work within the lab team without supervision.

The Position

  • Ability to work in the application with others and formulate with resins (various technologies water base, solvent base, others), ink vehicle (various solvent), additives (dispersant, surfactants, rheology modifiers, wax, pigments, etc.) using proper PPE

  • Provide detailed technical support which delivers added value to customers (external/internal)

  • Pursue sustainable customer relationships and think outside-in

  • Define the best approach and control the methods of work to bring agreed project milestones to definitive conclusions within agreed time scales

  • Keep up to date with technical developments, within DSM DCR and within the market, associated with high performance Printing and Packaging to ensure that where applicable, these developments are usfed for new products and technologies and new applications for existing products

  • Develop the capabilities of the team and when needed of other teams in the application by improving their knowledge and understanding of the products and technology behind them and their use

  • Ensure that all work carried out by the Application Chemist is conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with the quality standards of DCR

  • Ensure availability of raw materials necessary for lab experiments by maintaining appropriate general stock levels used by the application laboratories

  • Participate actively in department, team and project meetings

  • Initiate and execute all laboratory activities within the required timescale and milestone objectives, by utilizing accumulated technical expertise to progress the work

The Ideal

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field, required

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, including academic and/or internship and/or professional role

  • Experience formulating paint and coatings, a strong plus
