Title: Sr. Global Safety Manager
Location: South Deerfield, Ma
Reports to: VP of Supply Chain
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct and overall responsibility for the development and continuous improvement and execution of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for all Home Fragrance division locations in United States and internationally. The position will provide support to all Safety and Health and Wellness activities and programs for the Home Fragrance Supply Chain operating facilities and retail safety. This position will provide support to the DC, manufacturing, R&D lab, and retail store leadership team in achieving their goals to eliminate work related injuries and achieve world class safety cultures. Support includes evaluation of the worksite, training in safety and OSHA related matters, proactive analysis of loss experience and recommendation regarding worksite safety practices.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, direct and lead division health and safety (H&S) strategy, programs, initiatives and overall H&S division direction
Promote world class safety culture by raising expectations across the division and set standards to maintain and assess a robust, effective EHS Management System
Direct initiatives aimed at improving the safety culture across the organization consistent with company principles and values
Develops and implements company health and safety procedures, processes, and programs which ensure the safety of the operations, which are compliant with OSHA and other local, state, and federal rules and regulations
Develops and implements safety awareness programs, which are behavior-based and contribute to increased awareness of core safety program elements.
Participate in the investigation, documentation and analysis of accidents and injuries and maintains a follow-up system to ensure corrective action is promptly implemented.
Responsible for serving as a technical resource to support associates, at all levels, on safety-related issues
Analyzes and assesses plant safety trend data to drive safety resource allocation, and ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries.
Maintain a good relationship with Workers’ Compensation TPA’s and manages claims, including return to work practices
Facilitates, develops and maintains existing safety programs to improve on the SEAL assessment score year after year
Reviews division OSHA log, written safety plans, training records and other reporting requirements
Safety leader for retail stores
Responsible for inspecting the facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
Conducts/participates in site meetings and promotes an open line of communication with other team members
Complete special assignments and projects on an as needed basis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, EH&S, Engineering, or other relevant technical fields required
5 -7 years’ experience related to safety and/or occupational health, preferably in a manufacturing and distribution center environment
10+ years proven and progressive health & safety experience, a minimum of 3 years at the corporate level
Corporate subject matter expert in Health, Safety and Environmental topics.
Experience in managing health & safety programs in a multi-facility company
Experience in implementing safety culture improvement programs preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred
Proficiency in MS office and safety management information systems.
Exceptional organizational and communications skills
Proven leadership skills, ability to foster employee engagement
Experience leading and developing remote and off-site team of safety of professionals
Knowledgeable in Workers’ Compensation case management including transition to work programs
Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, under the guidance of the Director of Supply Chain Operations within the stated objectives and guidelines of the company
Be able to travel as needed
