Role and Scope of Position:

Responsible formanaging the life cycleofDER projectsfromproject initiation toissuing Permission to Operate (PTO) letters to DER Customers. Coordinate all engineering activities related to assigned projects and interfacewith project stakeholders, including but not limited to various Engineering disciplines, Substation Construction, Operations, Test Personnel, Contract Administration, Legal, Real Estate, Accounting etc. Identify project scope and manage the engineering work in a manner which ensures compliance with safety, budget, and schedule requirements.Lead and ensure project schedules with appropriate Engineering disciplines in ensuring adherence to DPU Tariff guidelines are met at each milestone. Lead any ad-hoc administrative activitiesthat may be required in fulfilling activities of issuing desktop requisitions to Contractors in managingoutsourcing activities.

Job Description

*Essential Functions: *

  • Manageshighly complexDERrelatedSubstation& Distributionprojects including, but not limited to, new substation additions, transformer and switchgear additions,re-conducting,and major protection scheme modifications.
  • Manage Distribution level overhead projects post interconnection agreements of DER Customersleading all subsequent activitiesfrom developing the Construction Schedule to the end state of the projectsin issuing PTO letters to the Customers

  • Provide oversight on project deliverables from the project initiation phase to delivering the permission to operate letter.

  • Ensurethat timelines associated with every task of the projects are met per theapplicableTariff timelines.
  • Ensure that proper study deliverables are met per the internal department expectations by adhering to the process flow including engaging other engineering disciplines.
  • Work closely on a weekly basis with theScheduling team in leading P6 schedules and providing weekly updates on every task of the project. Ensure that P6 schedule aligns with any other Power BIdata and Power Clerktool.
  • Work withtheDG Customer Care teamtoensure that all Customer HOLDs are applied on applications when necessary andthat applicabletimelines areenforced.

  • Ensure that noImpact Study agreements (ISAs)are issued without conforming to all pre-requisitesand requirements,includingcollaboratingwith other departmentsto developcost estimatesandconductrelevant site visits.

  • Ensure development of accurate schedules and engineering resource projections.
  • Develop Project Authorization Forms (PAFs) and presentingthem to appropriate approval committees likeState-PAC, SDC & EPAC.
  • Track project costs forDER projectsto ensure compliance withcustomerfinancialobligations.
  • Initiate corrective actionsas necessaryforproblems throughout the lifecycleof theDERproject.

  • Coordinates/completesproject engineering close-outsand workswithAccountingon cost reconciliation.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance withapplicableTariff timeline requirements.
  • Participatein weekly internal callstoprovideproject updates andincustomer callstobriefstakeholdersonprojectprogress anddeliverables.
  • Perform site walk downs with other engineering departmentsas deemed necessary.
  • Perform any ad-hocadministrative activities related to the project purchase orders to be issued to external stakeholders.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skills:   

  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, coaching, interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable engineering, work practices and procedures, and safety requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and design contracts

  • Knowledge ofthe energydelivery powersystem

  • Ability to utilize information technology and the use of Eversource’s office automation systems

Education:           _    _

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineeringor Project Management
  • Master’s Degree preferred   

_Experience:                   _

  • 10 years of experience consisting of a combination of electrical engineering and project management experience 

  • Experience in Energy Delivery is preferred

Licenses & Certifications:       

  • PMP Certification isPreferred
