Citizens Digital Design Engineer – National Bank in Westwood, Massachusetts
Citizens has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and passionate Digital Marketer to help transform our marketing channels and digital capabilities. The Design Engineer will collaborate on a digital engagement strategy team to design and test personalized content experiences within Citizens owned digital channels, including mobile app and web. This newly created team is building innovative experiences that drive engagement and deliver content to deepen relationships with our customers.
The Design Engineer is a key member of the team that will actively participate in the initial design, delivery and development phases. This includes supporting the design process to help guide graphic and UX professionals to establish interactive elements and content delivery techniques for personalized communications and offer delivery. The team will rely on the Design Engineer to work with content, asset and payload platform owners to help translate design into code and consult on recommended techniques for delivery. The role will support testing and development of new interactive capabilities within the creative to deliver key elements while enabling increased independence for the team to scale testing and delivery volumes. The role will also support the partner channel development teams to assist and advise on how system based interactive components and elements can be implemented for UI rendering using lightweight coding techniques.
The Design Engineer will help drive innovative and modern approaches to interactive creative and content interfaces that engage customers. The ideal candidate will provide a mix of experience delivering interactive front-end UI and experiences in the web or mobile channels, experience with digital advertising formats and consulting with non-technical design teams to ensure executable creative experiences and scalable design technology.
Lead collaboration with visual and UX design partners to define interactive design formats
Lead collaboration with channel development partners to deliver lightweight interactive experiences
Partner with payload partners/platforms to engineer efficient ways to render experiences
Demonstrate approaches to assist lead partner development teams to adopt new standards
Support delivery and optimization in both mobile and web-based platforms
Support testing and troubleshooting for interactive content experiences
Provide thought leadership and expert points of view on how to deliver more interactive content experiences within the application software
Deliver expertise around use of modern web and mobile development tools, frameworks and techniques
Collaborate as key member of an strategic focused Agile POD that partners with teams from different discipline areas in the business
Experience with object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
4+ years of hands-on development experience
Experience collaborating with UX, Product and non-technical partners
Experience taking a lead role developing complex interactive components that have successfully been delivered to customers
Experience communicating with partners, and other technical teams to collect requirements, describe software product features and technical designs
Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operational excellence
Knowledge of modern web development tools, frameworks and techniques (React, NodeJS, TypeScript, CSS pre-processors, etc.)
Understanding of broadcast/motion design, color theory, typography, composition and iconography a plus
Strong understanding of interaction design and design process
Passion for inventing new product designs and technical solutions
Interest and proficiency in visual design
Experience driving technical challenges and solutions
Experience creating advanced architectures and sustainable solutions
Familiarity with working in an Agile environment
Programming experience on native mobile platforms
Experience and passion for developing visually polished, engaging and highly fluid user interfaces
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: M-F
