Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will work on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which is Red Hat’s premier container initiative which oversees multiple lines of offerings. This includes Red Hat CoreOS, a Linux-based operating system optimized for containers, and Red Hat OpenShift, an orchestration Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) framework based on Kubernetes. As a Software Engineer who is part of this effort, you will work in an agile environment to help keep our offerings and services competitive with the ever-changing container landscape. You should be interested in working on Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, operating systems, continuous integration (CI), and more.

Primary job responsibilities

• Develop features and bug fixes in Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift within a scrum team

• Become responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews, CI, and continuous delivery (CD), and respond to security threats

• Serve as a point of escalation for customer and internal teams

• Participate in architectural discussions of system designs, programming interfaces, and inter-dependencies of control plane, operators, CI, etc., both in the Kuberntes upstream communities and in the Red Hat OpenShift project

• Collaborate with other engineering teams on integrations

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Go programming language

• Demonstrable expertise in at least one language from a list including Python, C, C++, Rust, or Ruby

• Understanding of the Kubernetes architecture and internals

• Experience troubleshooting complex issues in distributed systems

• Experience building and deploying container-based applications

• Previous contributions to open source projects or experience being an open source maintainer are a plus

• Experience building cloud infrastructure software is a plus
