MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

  • Provide design and construction management services as directed by the Manager of Facilities Engineering. Develops Site LRP Space Strategy.

  • May determine the overall energy usage at the entire site (specifically power). Works on CFT to develop Facilities Financial LRP.

  • May determine the equipment and processes that primarily contribute toward the utility budget, then strive to keep the utilities below the budget by optimizing the functioning of the operations and processes

What You’ll Work On

  • Conduct feasibility studies as directed for projects.

  • Write RCE's and implement projects.

  • Investigate state of the art equipment being introduced into the market for energy conservation.

  • Write specifications and call for bids for best pricing and installation.

  • Write RCE for projects and coordinate with Accounting for DCF and post completion audits.

  • Select vendor/contractor to do the job after detailed contractor evaluation.

  • Coordinate with vendor/contractor and the Facilities Shop for requirements, planning and installation of project through completion, based on manufacturing schedule and least process downtime.

  • This position requires a high degree of interaction with all functional managers and operating department managers across the site.

  • In order to establish operating parameters, knowledge of the use of manufacturing equipment and the number of shifts being worked is imperative.

  • This can only be achieved through constant interaction with the operational managers.

  • All operating conditions and environmental specifications required for GMP should be communicated clearly and understood by all concerned.

  • The incumbent should have the ability to work closely with the different functional groups/trades in the Facilities Shop to communicate the scope of the work and to arrive at the correct budget and precise schedule for proper interaction and precise execution of the different functional groups.

  • The position requires the ability to interact at the Corporate level with all the Corporate Engineering departments.

  • At the external level, the position requires effective communication with outside engineering consultants, vendors and contractors.

  • All engineering projects need to be communicated extensively with the consultants and vendors for proper costing and scheduling.

  • All projects need detailed coordination through planning and implementation. This requires interaction and working with all levels from supervisory to non-exempt personnel.

Required Qualifications :

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of plant engineering experience.

  • In depth knowledge of HVAC equipment and its operation.

  • Good working knowledge of power termination, distribution and back-up generation

  • equipment.

  • Overall knowledge of electrical systems.

  • Should possess analytical skills to determine site electrical rate structure and be in a

  • position to negotiate the best deal for Abbott.

  • Should possess some degree of negotiating skills to deal with contractors and consultants.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
