State of Massachusetts Highway Maint Foreman IV in Westfield, Massachusetts

The Military Division (Massachusetts National Guard) is seeking a professional for the role of Highway Maintenance Forman IV at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield Massachusetts. You will be responsible for on base landscaping and grounds maintenance services as well as airfield snow removal related work. You will serve as the shop supervisor where you will support and lead a group of maintenance equipment operators. The ideal candidate will have experience with operatingheavy equipment such as trucks, tractors, riding mowers, front end loaders, compactors, snow removal equipment, chippers, and other pieces of mobile equipment for road and grounds maintenance. _Essential Job Duties (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive)_ · Serves as the pavement and grounds supervisor and assists in planning, coordinating, directing and checking the work of equipment operators. · Mows grass, edges and trims grass along sidewalks, curbs, buildings, and fence lines. · Uses hand operated power equipment and hand tools such equipment includes chainsaws, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and concrete saws. · Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders and sweepers. · Manages installation integrated pest management plan for 104th FW. Maintains pest management program in accordance with DOD, Federal, and State regulations, requirements and directives. · Selects chemical treatments to provide maximum residual benefits consistent with environmental protection considerations. Operates pesticide dispersal equipment to obtain correct discharge rate. · Supervises and performs snow and ice removal operations in clearing airfield runways, taxiways, aprons, access roads, parking areas. · Applies chemicals and other ice control products. Works with Airport manager to ensure snow removal operations meet FAA requirements. · Manages Recurring Maintenance: Supervises and assist with the recurring maintenance and seasonal overhaul on base lawn sprinkler systems and components, landscaping and snow removal equipment. · Mandatory on call and overtime during the winter months. · Supervises and performs equipment maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, cleaning and checking tire pressure, battery, oil, water and coolant levels. · Maintains records and prepares reports on such matters as vehicle use, mileage, destinations, accidents, gas and other vehicle expenses, such as fuel, repairs. _ABOUT OUR AGENCY___ The Massachusetts Guard has a unique dual mission, with both federal and state responsibilities.
