Job Description

Sr. Category Manager is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. The Sr. Category Manager develops and executes strategic plans by clearly understanding the spend and stakeholder landscape, leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through end-to-end category management bringing the best available value through assurance of supply, quality, service levels, innovation and cost, achieved through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation. Develop deep industry insights leveraging supply market intelligence and industry insights.

Strategic thinking to develop longer-range supply strategies and plans that drive significant value while meeting the business requirements.

Deep stakeholder engagement to influencing business decisions relevant to the category strategy.

Strong cross-functional leadership skills to drive continuous progress against the strategic category plans.

Sets aggressive continuous improvement goals for assigned categories and explores a broad set of value levers to deliver on targets.

Functions as Subject Matter Expert for assigned categories.

Job Duties

  • The Senior Category Manager will be accountable for managing material process for Components, OEM and Contract Manufactured products in accordance with Quality and Oracle system procedures including:

  • Develop and maintain a short, medium and long term category strategy around supplier management and development of all major sub-categories to help ensure high quality, cost effective parts/products are supplied to new product development teams and manufacturing facilities.

  • May lead a functional group of the Category Management team. Providing both informal and formal coaching and development (mid-year and end of year performance reviews) to direct staff.

  • Work with internal customers, develop a supplier segmentation model for each assigned category, including identification of Strategic, Preferred and Approved suppliers.

  • Ensure competitive pricing on all sourced components and products through extensive market analysis and benchmarking. Have a precise awareness of cost drivers for assigned categories. Monitor market trends and optimize overall purchasing costs by following a total cost of ownership approach.

  • Identify and monitor areas of supplier risks (including gaps). Develop and implement mitigation and remediation strategies in coordination with the internal stakeholders.

  • Provide systems knowledge and expertise to assure development of the most cost effective and reliable product control. Responsible for financial analysis reporting to Marketing and Suppliers to ensure adherence to Supply Agreements.

  • Review forecast and discuss adjust with product managers & suppliers.

  • Support Advanced Sourcing on EPDS Finished Products Management and Component/Materials decisions on new OEM and Contract Manufactured product launches, negotiate, and develop new supply agreements as required.

  • Along with Quality, manage and maintain Component and External Finished products Supplier files in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Attend Quality audits present and review business s with key suppliers

  • Develop strong partnerships with Finance to develop and set new cost standards for all External Manufactured products annually.

  • All Other Essential Duties as assigned.

Job Qualifiations

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is a must.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Materials Management and Sourcing experience in medical device or related regulated field.

  • Experience in leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams, and a track record of successfully leading projects and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Experience in the development and management of an international supply base is essential.

  • Sound experience developing and implementing category-strategies.

  • Experience managing and partnering with suppliers as well as internal stakeholders.

  • Good technical understanding

  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.):

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%

Preferred:

  • Strategic mind-set and hands-on approach

  • Ability to condense and present complex information to key personnel in meaningful reports and presentations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all management levels, both verbally and written.

  • Strong results orientation and ability to quickly establish priorities.

  • Deep knowledge about market situation for multiple categories.

  • Good knowledge of ERP-systems (e. g. SAP, Oracle) and MS-Office-applications.

  • Team-player.
