What you’ll do
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs and Benefits Compliance, this position is responsible for project management of various regulatory and compliance initiatives affecting HPI and its self-funded clients’ Employee Health & Welfare Benefit Plans, utilizing writing, analytical, organizational, project management and administrative skills with an in-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations governing employee benefits. The position is shared splitting duties based on project management need between the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance divisions within the Corporate Compliance department.
In this role, you’ll also:
Establish and identify key players within the company for Regulatory Affairs and Compliance project teams
Gather project team members and establish reoccurring meetings and agenda
Oversee the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance focused project from start to finish or “lights on” implementation including distribution of any needed client communications related to client plan impact caused by regulatory action at the state or federal level
Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or updated requirements
Draft, modify and implement company policies
Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
Implement best practices for compliance control such as maintenance and refinement of currently used department compliance tracking tools and file structure
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of evolving state and federal regulations that impact clients’ plans
What you bring
Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience
2 – 4 years of experience in project management with concentrations and interests in healthcare and corporate compliance
Strong project management skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Detail oriented, analytical and accurate
Ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently and accurately in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
Ability to work within specified timeframes and meet deadlines
Ability to understand and apply technical legal rules in an employee benefits context and communicate regulatory requirements in plain language, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations governing employee benefits
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships at all levels with diverse internal and external stakeholders
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel or similar PC based programs
Preferred qualifications include project management experience and certification, as well as expertise in health plan administration or benefit plan compliance in the healthcare sector.
