We focus on solving near term opportunities while charting a roadmap for how we will navigate the product development needs to maximize business value over the next 3 – 5 years.

Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging organization is seeking a talented and motivated Sr. Product Manager - Technical. This individual will demonstrate a customer obsession with improving safety for our associates and developing robotic and automation systems that maximize the value for our business partners. This individual will lead the roadmap for new development within the packing automation space.

As the first contact customers have with their orders is the packaging, this role touches the customer, and requires the ability to build relationships with Amazon Operations teams and senior leaders (up to Senior Vice President) and to develop and assess external requirements. The position will report to the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging Product team manager.

As a PM-T, you will be a pragmatic visionary that can translate business needs into technology solutions that scale both technically and operationally. You are responsible for bringing quality and enabling technical innovation. You will handle evolving / complex demands, including multiple projects with dependencies on other internal organizations. You will draw on customer feedback, usage and operational data, and your experience guiding technology businesses to set and deliver on extensive goals for adoption, operational performance, feature delivery, and revenue.

You will also have the opportunity to display your skills in the following areas:

· Coordinate large scale projects spanning teams across Operations from inception to conclusion, formulate the product vision, define user stories, research appropriate technical solutions.

· Interact with Project Sponsors, Technical Program Managers, other Product Managers, and multiple development teams to define and deliver complex cross-functional projects.

· Clearly communicate vision, plans and project status to management and key technical and business stakeholders.

· Work closely with the software development team on delivering high-quality solutions, and provide guidance regarding architecture, design, and priorities.

· Engage with other teams across Amazon to evangelize the team and your projects, to build relationships and contribute to identify existing technologies that can be leveraged to meet your team’s goals.

· Identify, assess and mitigate risks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs balancing the business needs versus constraints

· Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

· Establish product goals and develop roadmap. Govern product development efforts, including research, requirements definition, metrics analysis, technical specifications, development, and launch efforts

· Manage a portfolio of products by evaluating the business and competitive landscape, understanding customer needs and value drivers

· Write roadmap and strategy documentation and ensure clear communication and coordination of product needs for the business and product development teams

· Work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences

· Measure and analyze existing products for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to customers

· Research and identify new opportunities

· Present confidently to Amazon senior executives as well as other large audiences

· Take ownership of document creation to support planning, design and operation readiness reviews

Key job responsibilities

• Previous Experience in Automation. Ability to establish product goals and develop roadmap. Govern product development efforts, including research, requirements definition, metrics analysis, technical specifications, development, and launch efforts

• Write roadmap and strategy documentation and ensure clear communication and coordination of product needs for the business and product development teams

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience technical product management

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, operations research, business analytics, information systems or equivalent

  • Engineering Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
