Job Description

The Director of Product Management, Product Lead, is an experienced leader responsible for defining, designing, and influencing all products within one of Olympus’ core digital clusters, leveraging both future and existing technologies. This individual will report into the Head of Products. They will lead a small team of product managers and collaborate with cross-functional partners across Olympus to develop strategies to deliver digital products and improve product development. They will work closely with our customers, system vendors, and other functions which support the Digital Unit within Olympus to help define key sets of product requirements and products that will help us continue to make people’s lives healthier, safer, and more fulfilling. They will also work closely with business stakeholders to help think through our go-to-market models and packaging these around Digital’s products and solutions. The Product Lead will use excellent communication skills to present information to senior leadership and execute on the product vision with teams across the globe as well as think strategically to enact change in an ambiguous technical and organizational environment.

The Product Lead collaborates with the other Digital Unit Leads to ensure we are building the best products for our customers. You will also build and lead a talented team to build, test, and iterate on digital products across the Olympus portfolio.

The Product Lead will build/lead a small team which will have large impact across a global portfolio with investments in excess of $100M per year.

Job Duties

  • Cluster Vision, Strategy, and Execution:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver value.

  • Ensure good understanding of product cluster vision, risk, and level of effort. Maintain stream-level epic backlog and coordinate with stakeholders to maintain accurate plans, status, risk mitigation, and related deliverables.

  • Align portfolio vision with epic creation and delivery to meet business goals.

  • Ensure delivery teams understand the customer needs. Develop and communicate program vision and roadmap.

  • Evolve the vision for Olympus’ digital product portfolio coherence, synthesizing it from multiple perspectives gathered across the company and from global emerging trends.

  • Develop a durable overarching strategy for realizing this vision and help influence teams across Olympus to shape their strategies to account for it.

  • Lead a team of product owners while influencing large organizations across business units and functions (product managers, software engineers, research scientists, designers, sales, marketing, etc.).

  • Drive iteration of the Olympus venture initiative theory of action to improve its effectiveness and create patterns of operations that improve Olympus.

  • Build and maintain relationships across Olympus. Foster collaboration through leadership, creativity, presence, and patience.

  • Present information to senior Olympus leadership.

  • Assist the planning and implementation of IT infrastructure maintenance and updates and provide technical expertise to enable the correct and optimal application of operational procedures.

  • Investigate and enable the resolution of operational issues.

  • Risk & Quality Management:

  • Consider organization-wide risk and mitigation activities. Provide leadership insights on risk management at organizational and business level.

  • Assist projects, functions, or teams in planning the quality management for their area of responsibility.

  • Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, or other related field (or equivalent and related experience).

  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, or other related field (or equivalent and related experience).

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in product management and/or engineering.

  • Experience working with ecosystems/platforms.

  • Understanding of digital & analytical technologies.

  • Experience leading projects in Agile and DevOps environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Ability to navigate and build connections within organizations, to influence and drive results in cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable with shifting viewpoints to discern new insights from a variety of perspectives.

  • Former founder or experience working in a start-up environment.

  • Extensive experience working in a global environment.

  • Experience working across hardware and software, ideally in a MedTech environment.

  • Experience developing and driving strategy for a product team and providing detailed product guidance.

  • Understanding of how technologies can shape institutions, innovate, and deliver growth.

  • Passionate about using imaging, computer vision and ML/AI to transform healthcare.

  • High level of comfort working with distributed teams and managing stakeholders at a distance.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $158,600.00 - $237,900.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
