What you’ll do
Under the direction of the Director of Benefits Compliance , this position is responsible for drafting of ERISA Plan Documents for client’s Employee Health & Welfare Benefit Plans utilizing writing, analytical, organizational and administrative skills with a working knowledge of state and federal regulations to ensure that all contract functions of the Corporate Compliance Department related to clients’ Employee Health & Welfare Plans are performed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
In this role, you’ll also:
Draft and finalize Plan Documents for client’s Employee Health & Welfare Plans (“Plans”), including drafting new documents for new clients and updating and re-stating documents for existing clients, working with Account Managers, Sales, and Compliance staff as required.
Draft and finalize Amendments to clients’ Plans.
Analyze and understand Plan Document language comparing prior carrier documents with Health Plans’ templates in order to incorporate appropriate contract provisions.
Incorporate updated language and provisions and maintain template Plan Documents, Summary of Benefits and other Plan-related document
Update and maintain Compliance Department logs for tracking and distribution of documents internally with various Health Plans’ departments and staff
Recognize need for follow-thru and follow-up with clients, brokers, and/or Health Plans’ Account Managers to finalize documents
Recommend appropriate changes to Plan-related documents in order to correct errors and promote consistency. Also recommend appropriate changes to improve Compliance Department’s processes and functions
Provide research assistance for client-specific Plan related issues
Acquire and maintain working knowledge of state and federal laws affecting clients’ Plans in order to understand and interpret Plan language and related compliance initiatives.
Actively assist Health Plans’ Sales and Client Services Departments to comply with clients’ Plan-related requests
Assist in the interpretation of Plan Document provisions and communicate with other Health Plans’ departments to clarify Plan language, working closely with Account Managers and TRU to identify coverage provisions, clarify client intent and resolve potential compliance or plan administration issues
Establish and maintain rapport with Health Plans’ staff, assisting and coordinating with other Health Plans’ departments to resolve Plan contract-related issues
Perform other Compliance Department duties as assigned by the Director of Benefits Compliance including any special projects
What you bring:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Background in health plan administration, employee benefits communication or related area
Education or training related to employee benefit plan rules or other administrative regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Experience in benefit plan compliance environment
A bility to understand and interpret plan documents and amendment
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must be detailed, analytical and accurate
Ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently and accurately
Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
Ability to coordinate with management as effectively as with other co-workers
Ability to work within specified timeframes and meet deadlines
Recognize and maintain confidentiality of work materials as appropriate
