The Sr. Specialist, Internal Communications is a member of the Corporate Communications team at BJ’s Wholesale Club and will lead the day-to-day execution for internal and visual communications. Reporting into the Internal Communications Manager, the role partners closely with senior leadership, operations, IT and human resources to ensure efficient rollouts of communications platforms and strategies.

This role will support the strategy development and execution of internal communications strategies and will be responsible for ensuring cohesive messaging and timely execution of deliverables. This role also manages the corporate intranet by partnering with content champions from other divisions, ensuring accurate data is available on the intranet, publishing stories and managing any system upgrades or integrations. The Sr. Specialist will also be responsible for visual communications to drive team member engagement and provide important information to team members across the organization.


  • Plan, create and write business communications on a variety of topics that span company announcements, meeting presentations, multimedia, video scripts, key messages, and talking points.

  • Manage corporate intranet, overseeing system updates and publishing updates

  • Draft and prepare content for the corporate intranet, email blasts, executive and company presentations and speeches

  • Manage visual communications platforms and strategies including digital signage in the home office, clubs and distribution centers. Lead the rollout of digital signage capabilities to new locations

  • Support leadership team and head of corporate communications with deck development for Board meetings, investor presentations, company-wide town halls, divisional all-hands meetings and more

  • Coordinate logistics for company-wide meetings and all-hands meetings (whether virtual webinars or in-person), along with other large-scale, strategic meetings that may occur

  • Create templates for newsletters, digital signage, executive email templates, executive presentations and more, as needed

  • Support Internal Communications Manager with visuals for LinkedIn or other corporate social channels, as needed

  • Coordinate video shoot logistics, oversee production, post-production editing and manage relationship with producer

  • Support wider corporate communications function as needed in areas like community engagement, public relations, social media and philanthropy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications or a related field

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field

  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communications skills, including sharing ideas and information across diverse audiences and creating compelling written and visual content

  • Experience in digital content creation, including video, PowerPoint presentations, blog posts, e-newsletters, and more

  • Experience managing internal communications vehicles, including corporate intranet and digital signage platforms, and strong knowledge of current and emerging technology

  • Strong time management, planning and organization skills, including the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other communications professionals and internal cross-functional partners to achieve a common goal

  • Displays business acumen and integrated thinking

  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 with strong experience creating visually dynamic PowerPoint presentations

  • Experience with Adobe Creative, specifically Photoshop, is a plus.
