Thrift Donations Truck Driver

Reports To: Thrift General Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Thrift Donations Lead (TDL) picks up donations at donors’ locations, and delivers purchases to customers. The TDL also helps process drop-off donations, helps load customer vehicles, and provides top-class customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Using agency truck, picks up thrift donations and delivers customer purchases

  • Maintains professional and helpful rapport with customers and donors

  • Safely transports, loads and unloads all materials

  • Rejects donations that don’t meet standards

  • Maintains any required records, reports or logs related to the driving or use of the truck

  • Maintains and cleans truck, as needed

  • Assists with Thrift store customer service and support as need

  • Assists with furniture cleaning and repair as needed

  • Assists with cashiering as needed

  • Maintains an inclusive and positive work environment for people of all abilities

  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings and development activities, as required

  • Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC)

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May assist other agency businesses with delivery, pickup, or customer service.

  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 1 year prior experience driving a delivery vehicle, preferably a box truck.

  • Willingness to work outside in inclement weather.

  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • No supervisory responsibility.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent standing, walking and bending.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds individually and more with a team lift.

  • Exposure to the elements.
