What you will do: The Data Scientist role within CVS Health is on the front line of driving innovation and directly impacting business decisions. Some of the amazing work performed by our data scientists include: Finance Analytics focuses on building & deploying analytic models that help the PBM business meet its client and pharmacy financial guarantees. This team works on drug pricing optimization models using linear and mixed integer programming techniques to optimize drug-level pricing tied to 95 million Americans. The models are designed to meet financial guarantees contracted by Caremark with its clients and pharmacy partners by optimizing drug prices while adhering to several regulatory and business constraints. The outcomes of these models (recommended drug prices) have delivered over $100M in value to Caremark.Front Store Personalization is responsible for those infamously long receipts during checkout! Our mission is to deliver personalized messages and content to 70 million+ loyalty members of the ExtraCare program. As part of the Front Store Personalization team, you will help us grow our suite of sophisticated predictive and optimization models. You will access cloud-based and on-premise data repositories on millions of customers, utilize numerous latest analytical technology platforms (like Snowflake), collaborate with amazing colleagues, and help drive hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of incremental sales impact to CVS.Retail Analytics impacts all aspects of our Retail Pharmacy business, using data science to optimize CVS' processes, strategy, and operations. As part of a broader team, we work on many different use cases and leverage techniques across machine learning, deep learning, statistics, optimization, NLP, and more. Examples of projects include using marketing mix modeling to determine the impact of CVS marketing campaigns; leveraging tree-based classification models to determine the next-best-action when insurance declines to pay for a prescription in the pharmacy; using forecasting methods to optimize CVS' logistics, inventory, and supply chain; and determining the ideal locations for CVS COVID testing using optimization methods.Rx Personalization aims to improve patient adherence outcomes by personalizing the time, channel & content with which we outreach the patients. To solve this complex problem, we employ techniques across the breadth of the data science spectrum - classification/regression to deep/reinforcement learning. We also use causal inference techniques and uplift modeling methods to help fine tune the segment of population that best responds to the various outreach treatments. This team runs hundreds of experiments across the different levers through our in-house experimentation platform that has features of A/B testing and reinforcement learning based testing methods like MAB.
Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Math, Operation Research, Statistics, Health Policy, or other related field with 8+ years of professional experience; Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience; or PhD with 1+ year of experience in:• Machine Learning or NLP, such as Scikit-Learn, SpaCity, Pytorch, or Spark NLP• Designing and implementing end-to-end solutions using Machine Learning, Optimization, or other advanced technologies and managing live deployments• Leading project management activities, including communications within project teams, stakeholder management, and leadership updates • Extracting actionable insights from the analysis and interpreting outcomes of complex models to present to business audiences including technical, non-technical, and senior leaders • Managing design implementation and cross functional initiatives, and communicating effectively and confidently with business partners, project team members, and senior management • Working with data and have a strong understanding of analytics and how it is leveraged within the healthcare/retail industry Required Skills in Machine Learning Specialization:• 3+ years of experience applying modern machine learning techniques to build predictive models for both classification and regression problems• 3+ years of experience coding in Python, R, or other modeling environments • 3+ years’ experience within advanced analytic functions of a corporation, tech startup, or consulting firmRequired Skills in Optimization & Simulations Specialization:• 3+ years’ experience coding in Python, Julia, and optimization packages such as Gurobi, CPLEX, etc. • 2+ years of proficiency with tools to automate CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GIT, or Control-M
