How will you make an impact?

Lead a global team serving as NPI Sourcing Program Managers/Sourcing Specialists in support of research, technology, and new product programs to ensure timely and effective supplier selection, early supplier engagement. Influence design concepts and specifications for purchased components to optimize quality, innovation, cost, manufacturability, and supply chain – all consistent with sourcing category strategies.

What will you do?

  • Provide strategic Procurement leadership for launch of new products and technologies for a team of procurement professionals.

  • Responsible for collaborating with the category management teams and the COE offshore teams to ensure all sourcing decisions and actions are aligned to the program plan and are cost effective

  • Hold team members to develop a detailed source plan for all NPI projects as part of the product commercialization process and lifecycle management process.

  • Develop roll up metrics across the entire NPI team to track the performance of the team vs objectives and drive continuous improvement.

  • Ensure regular and consistent program communications with Procurement colleagues so they are informed and able to effectively support the needs of the NPI program.

  • Coordinate the timely acquisition of tooling, as well as prototype and pre-production components.

  • Work with the NPI community to establish technology roadmaps which identify future needs, and drive technology scouting and supplier technology sharing forums to proactively meet those future needs.

  • Develop strong partnering relationships with the Engineering, Technology, and R&D community, as well as with the category teams, manufacturing facilities, and management.

  • Lead ‘make versus buy’ assessments to ensure timely and effective decisions early in the new product lifecycle, and consistent with manufacturing and sourcing strategies.

  • Ensure PPI (Practical Process Improvement) through the development of standard work and documented processes for how we select, engage, and manage suppliers through the NPI lifecycle.

  • Responsible for driving sourcing strategies, supplier assessment and selection for all NPI programs across the group.

  • Balance objective of engineering schedules with quality, cost, and security of supply.


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific field or other technically related field. Master’s degree and MBA preferred.


  • 7+ years of component design, manufacturing, supply chain and operations experience

  • 3+ years engaging with new product development

  • 5+ years direct engagement with suppliers and technical personnel preferred

  • 2+ years program/project management experience

  • 3+ experience leading and managing teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong understanding of new product introduction processes

  • Strong understanding of supplier engagement/management best practices

  • Working understanding of electrical, mechanical, biological, and chemical manufacturing industry processes, capabilities, and supplier base.

  • Strong leadership traits including superior communication, presentation and influencing skills

  • Proven ability to deliver results, effectively build relationships both internal and external and communicate well with all organizational levels

  • Proven track record of matrix team and program management

  • Ability to operate strategically, while understanding the tactical implications of decisions

  • Strong negotiations, problem solving, analytical skills, and financial savvy
