Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Financial Analyst in Waltham, Massachusetts

As a Senior Financial Analyst on the Global IT and Strategy & Corporate Development FP&A Team, you will have direct exposure to several key members of Thermo Fisher Scientific's senior leadership team. This position is primarily responsible for driving strategic business partnership and leading financial analysis, planning, month-end close, reporting, annual operating plan and consolidation activities across our key finance and business groups. As an influential member of the finance community, this role will serve as a liaison between the Corporate Finance team and our divisional counterparts and will partner closely with functional leaders to drive results. The successful candidate is a technically sound, solution-oriented relationship builder who relentlessly pursues continuous improvement and consistently operates with a high degree of independence. This role can be based in Waltham, MA; Pittsburgh, PA or Carlsbad, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the finance lead and strategic business partner for the Global IT and Strategy and Corporate Development groups;

  • Coordinate the Monthly and Quarterly Forecasting cycles and develop related deliverables. Specific month-end responsibilities include accrual management, template development and maintenance, variance analyses, metric tracking and report preparation;

  • Drive the Annual Operating Plan process through the establishment of timelines, creation of operating budgets, communication of risks and development of key deliverables;

  • Provide financial modeling and analytical support for business cases, key special projects and ad hoc requests as needed;

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and peers to foster best practice sharing and implement continuous improvement practices across the organization.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Superior relationship building & business partnering skills: ability to influence varying levels of leadership

  • Strong financial modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen detail-orientation

  • Experience with building and maintaining Data Visualization Tools (PowerBI)

  • Capacity to successfully navigate and thrive in a heavily matrixed environment

  • Outstanding prioritization skills (strong ability to manage multiple and competing priorities)

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and financial modeling skills

  • Strong track record of driving business accountability and continuous improvement activities

  • Superior communication skills

  • Embodiment of Thermo Fisher's core values: Integrity, Intensity, Involvement and Innovation

  • Experience with Finance Transformation in a Management Consulting capacity is a plus.
