Senior Finance Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (Corp FP&A)

How you will make an impact:

As key member of Corporate Finance, the Senior Finance Director, Corporate FP&A leads the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team supporting the Chief Financial Officer’s (CFO) Office. This is a high visibility, high impact role and is responsible for key financial processes for Thermo Fisher Scientific, both internal and external. Responsibilities include running internal processes such as the monthly and quarterly close and reporting processes, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly forecasts and the financials for the company’s annual Strategic Planning process. In addition, this position owns and drives valuable analytics for actual results and the forecast to support corporate function leaders, Company Leadership Team (CLT), CEO Leadership Summits, Earnings Call and Investor Analysts Meetings.

What you will do:

  • Lead completion of the month end and quarter end close processes for the company, including:

  • Monthly and quarterly company EPS forecasts

  • Reporting and analytics for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow

  • Revenue by geography / regions / industry and by product line

  • Organic growth and EBITA contributions, acquisitions and divestitures

  • Significant revenue items and impact

  • Quarterly earnings support including all supporting schedules and analytics

  • Preparation of Audit Committee and CFO Earnings Call scripts

  • Drive key process and analytics, including:

  • Monthly forecast process

  • Foreign exchange analytics

  • Weekly revenue and bookings consolidation and analytics

  • The annual operating plan including the target setting process

  • Development and preparation of annual strategic plan financials

  • Provide specific support / analytics

  • Supporting analysis for monthly outlooks, including range assessment and comparison

  • Investor Relations support including preparation for meetings and presentations

  • Supporting Corporate Development / Strategy team with data analytics as the need arises

  • Lead all aspects of long-term modeling and preparation for investor meetings

  • Preparation of materials for the board of directors

  • Build a strong team and able to build strong, effective relationships with finance leaders and finance team members across the Thermo Fisher Scientific finance organization

  • Lead operational improvement initiatives

  • Undertake work-reduction and optimization initiatives within Corporate FP&A

  • Support finance initiatives across the broader organization

  • Complete ad hoc analysis as needed

How you will get here:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business-related field required. CPA, CMA, MBA preferred.

Experience

  • 8-10 years meaningful work experience in a finance role with hands-on experience in providing financial analysis to drive key business decisions

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements

  • Experience in leading and developing an impactful team

  • Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization

  • Proficient at understanding and proactively communicating the financial implications of business decisions and dynamics

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills are required to collaborate with various partners.

  • Able to deliver high quality, effective presentations and understands and deploys tools / methods to effectively communicate complex topics

  • Self-motivated, higher level of flexibility and strong work ethic with the goal to get the job done

Travel Requirements

  • 10-15% travel
