You will provide electrification and energy efficiency project development and technical support to customers by prospecting opportunities for key accounts and large C&I customers through National Grid’s electric and gas service territory in Massachusetts. You will collaborate with customers, and external stakeholders like technical assistance and implementation vendors as well as internal groups like engineering, sales, and implementation. You will identify and generate leads to promote cost effective electrification and energy efficiency measures at customer sites, thereby assisting in the achievement of Energy Efficiency Program energy and greenhouse gas savings goals. You will develop a detailed understanding of our Energy Efficiency plan and educate customers and external stakeholders of our offerings and solutions.
Lead electrification and energy efficiency measure identification and the development of strategies with the goal of increasing the quantity, speed, and quality of implemented opportunities.
Build trust, develop relationships, and demonstrate value to internal groups and external stakeholders by being a key technical business partner who provides compelling reasons to pursue implementation despite initial objections and concerns.
Partner with strategic account managers and sales representatives on technical considerations. This may involve conducting pre-sale site visits and meetings to determine customer requirements and priorities and appropriately set customer expectations.
Act as a technical liaison between customers, design engineers, implementation, strategic account managers, etc.
Build and maintain relationships with key market stakeholders in the building energy industry including equipment manufacturers, engineers, architects, contractors, building owners, building operators, and property managers.
Customer oriented with strong self-confidence, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to translate and explain highly complex technical and program information to customers and vendors
Proficient in energy efficiency project economics.
Familiarity with electrification and energy efficiency programs including baselines and the concept of industry standard practice.
Ability to identify and explain technical aspects of electrification and energy efficiency opportunities.
Knowledge of and experience with interaction of building systems, new technologies, and the electrification and energy efficiency project development and implementation cycle.
Solid problem-solving capabilities, excellent listening skills, and the ability to understand stakeholder requirements and motivations.
Capacity to work across different cross functional teams.
Familiarity with energy policy as well as national and local building codes.
This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while fulfilling significant business commitments. Required attributes include:

The selected candidate will be assigned to a National Grid office location but will be expected to engage in significant field work for visits to customer sites/buildings and construction sites. Up to 50% of the time is expected to be spent at customer sites.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Masters degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in energy efficiency, building systems and/or technical sales.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred
Must have a valid state driver's license with clean driving record
