This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business. ## Job Purpose The role will be responsible for modeling the different scenarios in company’s power engineering software to identify least cost options and solutions to be adopted and are acceptable to meet company and state goals. Crucial to this role will be understanding how emerging technologies may impact scenario modeling by staying engaged in various industry and R&D initiatives. ## Key Accountabilities + Model different scenarios in company’s power engineering software to identify least cost options and solutions to be adopted and are acceptable to meet company and state goals. + Consult with the Advanced Data Analytics group in the development of long term forecast and scenarios as input to the FOE roadmaps & Strategies. + Coordinate the research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) efforts for National Grid’s US Electric Business Unit. This position must identify, evaluate, and lead change efforts across the organization that will enable new ways to perform integrated system planning, grid operations, and market operations, so National Grid is in a position to cost-effectively integrate a very high penetration of distributed generation, beneficial electrification (i.e., electric vehicles, electric heat pumps), energy storage, smart grid technologies, and customer load management. + Support requests for cost recovery for the US Electric Business Unit’s RD&D efforts related to improving the integration of renewable distribution generation, beneficial electrification, energy storage and other customer or utility-owned clean energy technologies. + Ability to advise internal stakeholders on clean energy industry trends and the status of relevant clean energy companies and technologies. + Work closely with T&D Asset Management and Planning teams and US strategy. + Researching, planning, and developing interconnection standards for new business opportunities and regulatory changes, including emerging market segments (e.g., vehicle-to-grid technologies for electric vehicles, active resource management for distributed generation, emerging market opportunities for energy storage, power-to-gas for renewable hydrogen generation, etc.). + Work with industry research organizations like EPRI and CEATI to identify the company's research priorities. + Benchmark National Grids RD&D and distributed energy resource integration efforts against other utilities. + Educate internal stakeholders on key industry trends. + Present the company’s research at key industry conferences. + Present the company’s research to external stakeholder groups including the MA-TSRG and the NY-ITWG. ## Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required + Able to line manage a team of engineering resources to develop new business ideas, throughout the project lifecycle. ## Qualifications + A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with an advanced degree in business administration (MBA) or equivalent preferred + Demonstrated experience in leading an engineering team and addressing complex problems. + Experience developing regulatory filings and presenting/testifying in formal proceedings. + Ability to lead innovation and technical excellence, and establish a high level of confidence with internal senior management team, external leaders, regulators and politicians + Energetic and enthusiastic technical and business leader with entrepreneurial spirit and drive for revenue-generating activities + Strong engineering, market insight and project management background + Strong technical and finance management abilities + Knowledge of national and local regulatory requirements on system performance + High personal standards of commitment and integrity + Knowledge of engineering consultants and their capabilities + Experience with Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Load flow analyses. + Experience automating a large business processes via Scripting (Python) preferred. + Experience with the following modeling software - CYME, PSSE, ASPEN preferred + Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required + Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record + 8 years of gas construction/ field operations experience ## More Information National Grid is an equal opportunity employer that values a broad diversity of talent, knowledge, experience and expertise.
