Job Description:

Alternative Investments (AI) can play an important part in helping our clients reach their goals by attempting to provide growth, stability and diversification in a range of market conditions. AI generally refers to investments that invest in a broader range of markets, make concentrated investments, employ leverage and/or derivatives to a greater degree, employ short selling, and invest in illiquid securities. They are a set of flexible solutions that may smooth volatility and mitigate risk. Alternative Investments at Merrill is an industry leading offering that is continuously striving to engage with clients and advisors in a compelling way.

As a part of our Investment Solutions Group marketing team, the Alternative Investments marketing manager will be responsible for leading and implementing the product marketing & sales enablement strategy to raise awareness of these capabilities and grow assets. The Investment Solutions Group marketing team covers investment programs across investment advisory, Specialty Asset Management, Sustainable and impact investing and capital markets. As a member of this team, the AI marketing manager brings a unique perspective and is able to work closely with teammates sharing program best practices and marketing strategies, while driving the engagement and adoption of this unique program with advisors and clients. The ISG marketing team has a sharp eye on what clients and advisors are looking for with creative and hard working talent that constantly strives to improve on our programs and results.

Specific responsibilities include

  • Developing growth strategy for ultra high net worth and high net worth segments across Merrill and Private Bank

  • Ensure the strategy and the messages are coordinated with Segment groups, Merrill Leadership, Private Bank Leadership, Digital Team

  • Timely and effective development, execution and management of marketing and communication strategies and campaigns

  • Develop messaging ensuring alignment with brand messaging and value of advice

  • Ensure connectivity of messaging into broader marketing strategies including our content and social media programs

  • Develop impactful advisor & specialist support including program education

  • Develop project plans and execute delivery of product launches, platform enhancements and sales enablement opportunities

  • Create and maintain core product marketing content

  • Manage projects and take a leadership role on all initiatives from inception to implementation & manage multiple projects at the same time

  • Help build cohesive, consistent messaging and product positioning,

  • Measure effectiveness and produce reports of accomplishments and business impact

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Marketing discipline preferred

  • Prior experience in financial services with knowledge of trust or investments preferred

  • 3+ years of marketing experience preferably in financial services

  • Digital marketing experience

  • Social media experience including Twitter, LinkedIn, websites, electronic communications

  • Experience working across products, channels and LOBs to facilitate execution and is well respected across teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams;

  • Flexible, adaptable with demonstrated ability to navigate in ambiguous circumstances

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Manage effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, client-driven environment; ability to manage within tight deadlines

  • Ability to impact and influence others
