Job Description

The Machinist's work includes layout and 6S of machining cells, setup/breakdowns of production jobs, making tool adjustments as needed and building parts to print. The machinist will utilize manual mills/lathes, 3 axis CNC mills, 3 axis lathe with live tooling, and other machine shop equipment including but not limited to saws, drill presses, and grinders. The machinist will work with team members including their supervisor, other machinists, and engineers to assist in fixture development, setup/machining time reduction, and process improvement.

Job Duties

  • Manual machining on lathe and mill

  • Make safety a priority in daily tasks and operations

  • Record labor consistently and accurately utilizing the company ERP system

  • Work from blueprints process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include the cutting and shaping of metals and plastics to precision dimensions.

  • Machine metals, plastics, and molded components to specifications listed on the part drawings utilizing manual lathes and mills.

  • May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.

  • Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.

  • May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

  • Implement and maintain 6S organization in assigned work areas

  • Participate in continuous improvement program

Lifts up to 50lbs.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent

Experience: 2 years of related experience. Experience working with Manual lathes, Mills, CNC Mills and Processes. Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment a plus.
