National Grid is hiring a Lead Contract Specialist for our MA Gas Non-Complex Contract Management department in Waltham, MA.

Within SHE, Operations Support and Emergency Planning, the MA Gas Contracts Department provides safety-conscious, best-in-class contractor resources to perform the work while maximizing value and minimizing cost. The MA Gas Contracts team manages adherence of contract terms, issue resolution, and contractor and contract performance.
The Lead Contract Specialist, as a member of the MA Gas Contracts team, supports the business in interpretation of the contract, understanding of business requirements, best outcomes in change order and claim resolution, solutions to emergent in-year resourcing, work order assignments, support for highest level of safety and performance by the contractors, while maximizing value throughout.
Position Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Ensure the highest level of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance by the contractors, while maximizing value throughout via overall management of contract
Provide expert level consultative support on changes in scope, contract language issues, change order and dispute resolution
Lead initiatives to implement strategies of best practice, drive consistency, influence cultural change, provide contracting oversight and expertise
Support all levels of contract management in execution including detailed recording of all communications with the contractor, maintenance of archived communications with contractors and business stakeholders, written notices to contractors, e.g., stand down, suspension, termination, contract amendments, changes in scope, and negotiation of disputes
Contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to each contractual relationship in order to drive change and innovation
Act as the point person and handle calls/emails from contractors and internal stakeholders on a variety of issues
Bachelor’s degree required
Masters level in engineering and/or a business or legal discipline preferred
5+ years of construction contract management, preferably in gas, oil, or utility required
Proficiency with MS Office, Visio, Project required
Valid driver’s license required
