This position requires strong leadership, project management, analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to work with executive management and teams in a fast-paced technical environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business strategy, product strategy, software development and product management. Understanding of project portfolio management practices is critical along with a firm understanding of healthcare technology.
The Director of Product Portfolio Strategy will be responsible for guiding a team of dedicated and virtual team members to manage a company-wide portfolio management process for product development, including owning data analysis tools. Responsibilities include: executing the ongoing portfolio management process, linking portfolio management to existing business processes (budgeting, roadmaps, development execution), and helping define product and portfolio scenario recommendations for the business unit. The position will report to the head of Product.
The Director of Product Portfolio Strategy will help provide sound rationale for portfolio plan options and support the development of business cases for specific corporate-level initiatives. The candidate is expected to have a proven record of executing efficient analytics and insightful analysis to influence and make sound business decisions.
Lead a portfolio analysis team in the development of strategic options for management to approve based on the aggregate project plans of each business unit and corporate level initiatives
Maintain the portfolio management tools and the data collection process required to develop the various portfolio views and analysis
Work with other functional leaders to integrate portfolio management into existing business processes and planning calendar
Work with all stakeholder groups to train on portfolio management concepts and tools
Explain portfolio management procedures and role
Assist in the creation of business cases and portfolio options
Manage continuous improvement of the portfolio management process
Manage portfolio performance metrics to measure improvements
Identify, plan and execute "portfolio infrastructure" projects (e.g., new tools and techniques, changes to performance review system)
Maintain library of gold standards
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, product management, consulting or corporate strategy
Healthcare industry experience is preferred
Strong project management skills
Demonstrated experience in building and understanding financial models
Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills required. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills cross-functionally
Demonstrated track record of strong leadership with ability to achieve results and successfully lead major project teams
Strong business analysis and technical acumen
Excellent critical and strategic thinking with ability to translate strategy into action and results
Demonstrated process orientation/capability
Ability to build a collaborative environment
Experience in health or science information service industry preferred
Experience in a strategy role preferred
MBA or equivalent preferred
