National Grid is hiring a Director for our NE Electric Contract Management department in Massachusetts. Hybrid office-home work with main office in Waltham, moving late 2022 to Worcester.

Job Purpose

The Director’s role is to lead the Contract Management team and to manage the relationship with our construction contractors as well as to work with our stakeholders on improving contractor and contract performance and resolve disputes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct ownership and accountability for contract relationships in support of Construction contracts during execution phase.

  • Decision authority on change orders thru direct negotiation on all contract execution matters.

  • Ensure that National Grid achieves value for money and that the contractor delivers the work that they are contracted to deliver at the price they committed to.

  • Implement, track and manage contractor performance thru meaningful KPI metrics to drive high levels and standards of contractor performance.

  • Identify and lead contract ammendments as necessary.

  • Lead performance improvement plans tracking for contractors up to termination of contractor relationships when appropriate

  • Work closely with the management team to develop operating budgets and resource allocations to ensure timely and cost-effective achievement of all assigned work.

  • Work with process owners to identify and implement business process improvement and best practices enterprise wide in a consistent manner throughout the global lines of business; and remain abreast of changing technologies and industry best practices.

  • Ensure contract management organization fully supports operating to the highest Safety, Health and Environmental standards to ensure company goals are met and the construction program delivery is consistent with company objectives, strategies and policies.

  • Actively support and implement initiatives which support Inclusion & Diversity

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or similar field

  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing a team

  • Must have strong skills in common programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Proven experience in Supplier Relationship Management

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, planning and organizational skills

  • Valid driver’s license required, limited travel required within the territory.

  • Ability to support emergency work as needed off hours
