State of Massachusetts Building Maintenance Supervisor II in Waltham, Massachusetts

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Metro Region is seeking a motivated and talented individual for the Building Maintenance Supervisor position with strong attributes to work with Metro Residential Services (MRS). The successful candidate will be experienced and motivated individual to perform overall supervision and execution of all routine maintenance in a cluster of homes assigned, including painting and preparation work, appliance repairs, interior and exterior cleaning including mowing lawns, and snow-plowing, minor electrical and plumbing jobs, flooring and use of hand and power tools. Assures the homes meet basic safety standards sanitation and cleanliness. Conducts inspectional tours with the Director of Maintenance and Capital Projects, recommends repairs/replacement to larger goods and equipment, and works as a liaison to outside contractors and vendors. The candidate will be experienced to perform construction, preventative maintenance and repairs of all machinery, equipment and furnishings within the MRS. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Performs preventative maintenance of group homes * Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance including minor repairs, appliance repairs, painting, simple carpentry and general upkeep. * Aids in the exterior house work including power-washing, windows and light yard work * Assists with moving and assembling new equipment and furniture * Executes painting, caulking, and minor electrical, plumbing & carpentry repairs * Assists with snow removal and other landscaping tasks * Performs inventory of certain materials used in preventative maintenance * Related duties as directed by the Manager _Preferred Qualifications_ * Working knowledge of the fundamentals of one or more of the mechanical building trades * Working knowledge of construction and maintenance materials and equipment * Ability to understand and follow written or oral work and instructions * Ability to use tools and perform work of semi-skilled nature * Ability to deal effectively with others _About the Agency: _ The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is dedicated to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members. _Agency Requirements:_ * Possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License _Please Note:_ * Schedule: 8:30AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in building maintenance, the major duties of which included (1) maintaining and/or repairing plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning systems and/or (2) building custodial services and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
