As an Account Executive you'll be responsible for...
Profitably grow an assigned block of in force group business through expert renewal analysis, exceptional service and selling new lines of business.
Effectively and efficiently prepare and present renewal data to brokers and/or customers electronically. Evaluate rate actions, analyze utilization, experience and other reports and collaborate with underwriting to determine renewal strategy. Drive revenue through selling rate and benefit increases. Provide plan alternates by using creative thinking skills. Develop annual business plan to renew and grow assigned block. Increase profitability level by renewing business at an acceptable price to the company. Maintain appropriate level of contact with the broker and customer throughout the year to ensure effective presentation of renewal information at policy anniversary.
Identify, recommend and present additional lines of coverage and services to existing customers by utilizing creative consultative strategies. Negotiate pricing with underwriting and collaborate with sales representatives to close cross-purchase business. Partner with implementation team to ensure necessary information is provided for accurate and timely case implementation.
Assist brokers and customers with escalated service issues. Exercise independent judgment and discretion utilizing problem solving techniques to present clear problem definition and provide potential solutions. Identify and mitigate risks that may have financial impact. Conduct client administrative meetings, educational meetings, etc. via telephone. Process plan amendments.
Reinforce the local model and value it brings to brokers and customers through ongoing relationship-building. Portray subject matter expertise of Principal products, policy and procedures at all times. Abiliity to effectively communicate the overall value proposition through presentation skills.
Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
This position requires successful completion of a motor vehicle driving record check.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2-4 years related work experience preferred
Must be able to acquire and maintain all required state licenses, as outlined by the Principal Financial Group within 90 days
Advanced knowledge of industry products required
Must have excellent persuasion, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, presentation, listening, and oral/written communication skills, as well as analytical skills
Advanced math skills required with basic skills related to graphs, symbols, equations, etc
Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of business unit applications preferred
Must be able to maintain accuracy while being detail oriented
Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
Travel required less than 20%, including overnight stays
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
This role offers the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
