Kelly Services Senior Power Electronics Engineer in Walpole, Massachusetts

A market leader in AC/DC Power Supply is seeking a seasoned, energetic, and self-motivated individual with High Frequency Switching Power Supply and Analog Circuitry design experience. The candidate will be a member of the development team working on leading edge ruggedized high-power density, redundant, scalable 1-5KW UPS systems in a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment. The candidate shall be technically sound in power electronics and mixed signal designs with good fundamental understanding of various s witching supply topologies, magnetic design, control theory and thermal management . He/she shall possess basic understanding of digital circuits, CPLDs, and micro-controller architectures/designs . Working knowledge with redundant and non-redundant UPS architectures, battery charging/management systems and Safety Agency requirements are desirable. He/she shall be hands-on and possesses good listening, written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of circuit theories, topologies, and the application of high frequency and high power density switch-mode power electronics

  • Working experience with all commonly used topologies including buck, boost, buck-boost derivatives-- flyback converters, forward converters, push-pull, half-bridge, full bridge.

  • Well versed with the many power system architectural/topologicalconcepts/strategies most commonly used for commercial data processing systems

  • Skilled in analog control loop compensation/optimization and S-domain analysis.

  • Skilled in High-frequency magnetic designs (transformers, inductors, filters)

  • Working experience with power BJT, Triac, SCR, MOSFET, IGBT devices.

  • Knowledgeable of AC/DC, DC/DC converters and DC/AC inverters

  • Familiarity with International Product Safety Regulatory standards, EN61000 Standard

  • Working knowledge of Windows based application software such as Word, Excel, Power-point, Project, Visio, PADS, Spice, Mathcad, Matla b, and other Windows based software are desirable.

  • BS in electrical engineering or BS in computer science required and a minimum of 8-years of industry experience

  • Our client's facility is an ITAR regulated one so any applicant must be an US Citizen
