Covenant Health SYSTEM DIRECTOR LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

JOB SUMMARY

Develops and implements a comprehensive workforce-centered organizational development program that facilitates the professional development and continuous learning of Covenant’s human resources in support of the mission, strategic plan and operating goals of the system. Leads and manages the design, development, delivery and evaluation of learning events, programs, policies and strategies in support of a high performing learning organization. Chairs the System Learning Advisory Board.

  • Ethics knowledge and administration within a healthcare setting, including the Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives (ERD’s).

  • Demonstrate a capacity for understanding the business operations and functions within a healthcare organization.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the strategic relationship between effective human resources management and core business functions, i.e., the empirically measured linkage between the employee experience and the patient/resident experience.

  • Ability to build a business case for HR management (e.g., return on investment/ROI) as it relates to efficient and effective organizational functioning, especially in a faith-based healthcare organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain internal and external stakeholder respect through demonstrating the return on investment of cultural and organizational development initiatives and employment value branding.

  • Provides direct reports with the knowledge, skills and tools need to successfully execute his/her performance goals.

  • Deliberately sets aside time to prepare and conduct regular coaching sessions with direct reports to share critical information, and to plan, review, improve and praise performance.

  • Ensures and guides direct reports on how to effectively coach and develop others.

  • At regular intervals, utilizes a structured process for asking for, receiving and acting on constructive feedback from direct reports and key stakeholders.

  • Creates an environment that enables direct reports/individuals to fully utilize their talents by making them feel supported, significant, encouraged, respected and empowered.

  • Successfully leads, motivates and helps team members navigate through administrative and operational changes within the matrixed setting of a healthcare system/corporate setting.

  • Utilizes a high degree of self-awareness to align leadership style to meet the diverse work styles, perspectives and needs of their direct reports.

  • Demonstrates the ability to inspire innovation in human resources delivery and outcomes through the encouragement of team members to pursue learning and problem solving in their areas of personal interest and passion.

  • Understands process application of appropriate risk management key stakeholders, situational review and timely/accurate reporting

  • Understands and appropriately applies incident tracking, review, resolution, preventative and reporting procedures, including, but not professional licensing boards.

  • Demonstrates ability to work and lead effectively under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and process application for creating a safe and secure employee work environment

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Adult Education or other related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, or other related field, specific to healthcare with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • PHR/SPHR Certification is preferred, but not required
