Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.
Whole Life Engineering’s Availability & Supportability Design Department has an immediate need for a Product Line Obsolescence & DMSMS Lead based in our Tewksbury facility. In this highly visible role, you’re responsible for working with multiple levels of Program and Engineering leadership in building consensus for and implementing strategies around build limitations and risks.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
In this highly visible role you’re responsible for reviewing obsolescence issues requiring leadership awareness as well as for providing potential mitigation solutions for review and discussion.
This position can be a Salary Grade P3 or a Salary Grade P4 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
At a P3 grade, an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience may be considered for this role. A PhD can account for 5 years’ experience as required for this role.
At a P4 grade, an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience may be considered for this role.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: BS in a STEM discipline or a BA in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics
5+ years’ Engineering experience
Experience with parts or components obsolescence
Experience managing cost and schedule or associated reporting
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
Experience in developing obsolescence mitigation options
Background in component engineering, including guiding component selection
Experience with a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to system logistics/sustainment/production activities/obsolescence
Experience reading engineering drawings
Working knowledge of, or experience with configuration management processes as part of the product life cycle
Experience with product and procurement management systems such as: PTC Windchill (PDM) and SAP PRISM
Experience in development of technical and cost proposals.
Experience with program and project tasks, including managing cost and schedule as well as associated reporting.
Experience with ‘data mining’ solutions such as SiliconExpert and IHS CAPS Universe.
Experience interfacing with manufacturers and suppliers
Qualified 6Sigma specialist
Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings.
Proven multi-disciplinary leadership and technical skills to engage personnel across stakeholder teams.
Proficient with the MS Office suite; specific experience with data using Excel and Access.
