Purpose of the Position:

The person in this role will function as the leader for the division in its overall new product effectiveness. The New Products Commercial Manager will be reporting to the Commercial Technology Manager. In this capacity, the New Product Commercial Manger will work closely with Product Line Managers (PLMs) and all other supporting functions (sales, channel, marcomm, pricing, supply chain, regulatory, project management team etc) for division alignment to oversee activities as they relate to new products for the Corning Life Sciences Business.

Major Responsibilities Include :

  • Owner of Commercial Plan Review Process

  • Manage and facilitate to ensure cross-functional alignment

  • Review business cases and Commercial Plan material with commercial leads

  • Ensure development of robust commercial plans

  • Owner of New Product Setup and Launch Process

  • Work with project/commercial leads to ensure compliance to division launch requirements

  • Ensure cross-functional engagement in launch process

  • Communicating, aligning the organization, and executing on the overall new products strategy.

  • Analyze and review new product performance/metrics.

  • Co-own/manage New Products SharePoint site

  • Serve as steering team member of new product projects

  • Provide guidance to teams on processes, milestones, risk mitigation plans and other project specific objectives

  • Support New Products communication across CLS via ‘What’s New’ and other mechanisms such as Sales Force.

  • Support Business operations as commercial resource/lead on early stage projects

  • Work with Business Operations Team on their product line plans to thoroughly articulate their new product strategy, completing a thorough business case analysis, and assist PLMs in executing their NP strategy.

  • Maintain knowledge of new product status, holding review sessions with commercial and/or project leaders. Anticipate and identify issues early and assist in overcoming them.

Reporting Relationships :

  • This role will directly report to the Commercial Technology Manager for Corning Life Sciences.

  • This role has the possibility of 1-2 direct reports

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Life Science or engineering, marketing, or business development required.

  • Strong leader that can motivate others to respond quickly and holds people accountable for results and continuous improvement

  • Experience with identifying and assessing market and product opportunities.

  • Experience with Profit and Loss statements; financial assessments of business opportunities.

  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and across distance

  • Experience managing new product innovation teams.

  • Innovation training (Black Belt (IBB) preferred).

  • Experience working effectively as a commercial member on Innovation Project Teams
