HOME DEPOT FREIGHT TEAM ASSOCIATE in TAUNTON, Massachusetts

Freight Team Associates are responsible for stocking merchandise onto shelves, organizing the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment, and providing customer service as needed. Associates will be expected to Greet, Engage and Thank customers. Freight Team Associates will operate equipment such as reach trucks and order pickers to bring down merchandise safely from the overhead bays to the sales floor. A successful Freight Team Associate must have a high level of work commitment, work well with others and be capable of learning and following procedures. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager On Duty, and working safely as to not endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers. These associates work in cooperation with store leaders and other associates to ensure customers\' needs are met. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Safety - Complete specified safety training courses applicable to role and follow all prevention policies & procedures - Uses proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Utilize proper lifting and loading techniques - Follow the required safe distances around Lift Equipment - Understands and follows Hazardous Materials guidelines as described in Standard Operating Procedures - Immediately correct and / or report any incident, accident, or unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty - Reviews overheads for safe storage of merchandise. Customer Experience Service - Drive GET (Greet, Engage and Thank) for all customers entering and exiting the store; proactively smile and acknowledge all customers - Use hdPhone every scheduled shift to provide excellent customer service - Ensure proper merchandise placement for ease of shopping - Providing excellent customer service when on the sales floor On-shelf Availability Store Appearance - Unloads freight from trucks, sorting to pallets and/or freight carts, and staging of merchandise on sales floor - Performs merchandise packout and packdown as directed - Maintains aisle cleanliness and shoppability so that merchandise is accessible, customers are able to move through the aisles easily, and merchandise is presented in a visually appealing manner - Maintains safe and organized overheads (e.g. striping overheads) Additional Duties as Assigned - Provide supplemental support as necessary to other areas of store - Follow all policies and procedures and adhere to work schedule - Cooperate with Associates, Supervisors, and Managers, and complete all other work activities as assigned PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise - Responding to public address system announcements and hdPhone/walkie talkies including customer services calls, pages, and general information - Frequently requires the ability to lift and move heavy and bulky items without assistance - Standing for long periods of time and the ability to move around the store - Identifying and reading reports, tickets, receipts, and UPC labels using computer or other similar device - Climbing Ladders up to the height of 12-16 feet to obtain or stock merchandise WORKING CONDITIONS - Associates may encounter an uneven flooring surface due to temporary cracks in the floor or parking lot - Associates may have exposure to dust, gas fumes emitted by power equipment, and noise - Associates may be exposed to external weather conditions, drafts and interior temperature changes, and slippery floors - Associates may handle merchandise, supplies, and tools with sharp edges or that contain hazardous materials MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS - Must be 18 years or older PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Lift equipment operator
