The Opportunity:

MassMutual’s ETX Product & Platform Technology organization is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Operational Director to join a new and growing organization. In this role, you will be responsible for all facets of Product & Platform delivery of digital platforms solutions ranging from cloud migrations, modern and legacy life product technology, to embracing our product customer experience. You will direct, manage, plan delivery of work programs for development and launch of new insurance products, reprices, or major enhancements to existing products on policy administration platforms. This role will also be responsible for the planning, budget, and quality delivery of business outcomes in support of the Life Platform Technology organization. You will have the ability to collaborate within the Product and Platform Technology organization, the broader ETX teams and with our valuable MMUS business partners.

It is essential that you like working with people, they like working with you, and you can communicate clearly and effectively with both our technical and business stakeholders.

The Impact:

• This individual will be responsible for managing the demand/capacity for the team, working closely with the portfolio management team.

• Manage available resources at the single or multi department level. Mentor and/or direct less experienced managers.

• Coordinate technical studies and evaluations of business area needs and technological alternatives with other systems management and business area managers.

• This individual must demonstrate they can develop high performing project teams by setting a positive tone and leading by example.

• This person can perform the role of being a coach and a mentor as well as can provide career guidance for all team members and build domain expertise within the team.

• Demonstrated ability to identify delivery efficiencies, technology improvement opportunities, cost efficiency opportunities and ways to improve customer’s experience is a must.

• Can develop technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives to clearly understood business problems and identified benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business or related field or appropriate work experience

• 8+ years work experience in Information Technology, Product Development or related field

• Thorough understanding of Program/Project Management and/or MM Business system methodology

• Identifiable track record of leading/driving key initiatives working with cross functional teams to successfully implement critical business projects, problem solutions, negotiation, conflict resolution and continuous improvement efforts

• Experience managing business engagements, starting with buildingstrong relationships with the various business leads and balancing a wide variety of competing and sometimes conflicting priorities.

• Develop team to effective decision making when needed, depicting multiple options for how to progress with the project (Ex. leveraging RAPID decision making model).

• Proven ability to promote ideas and proposals persuasively, shape stakeholders’ opinions, project a positive image, work through conflicts and negotiate win/win solutions

• Experience acting as an advisor and partner in the development and definition of business strategie s

Ideal Qualifications

• Comfortable working in ambiguity, capable of establishing and growing functions and teams from the ground up

• At least 3+ years of management experience and creating an engaging work environment

• Excellent presentation, influencing and reasoning skills including the ability to interface across all levels of the organization and communicate in a way that reinforces the value and impact of the work

• Proficient with project management tools and techniques, such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Scrum and Kanban

• Familiarity with data and analytics processes including ETL, data governance, reporting, and data science

• Experience working with technology vendors and managing

• supplier relationships

• Experience with policy administration platforms at all stages of application and product development lifecycles
