Who are we looking for?Education/Equivalent:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical), or an

equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.

High School Diploma required; Technical Certifications in the field of

Maintenance is highly preferred;

Valid MA Driver’s License is required.

Grade 4M Waste Water Operator License desirable

NEWEA Voluntary Collections Systems Grade 4 desirable

Work Experience Needed:

Requires a minimum of ten (10) years experience in operations and maintenance

environment, preferably in the water or wastewater industry of which five (5)

years in management or supervisory capacity.

What will you be doing?The Maintenance Manager directs and

supervises the activities of the Maintenance Department of the Springfield

Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, twenty four (24) CSO regulators, twenty

five (25) Pump Stations and flood control stations and gates. This position

is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the various facility

processes, equipment, buildings and grounds; management of the 20 year Asset

Renewal and Replacement program and schedule; management of the spare parts

inventory, warehouse and rolling stock; and; the coordination of facility

maintenance with construction projects as they occur over the contract term.

The position also requires defining an asset management strategy and

maintenance plans, managing allocation of duties to ensure adherence to defined

plans and optimizing maintenance-related costs. Will also be responsible

for managing maintenance of the 13 wastewater pump stations and one water

booster pump station for the Agawam project and for maintenance of the

plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems and building at the on-sight Springfield

Water and Sewer Commission Headquarters Building.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing a 16 person

maintenance staff of which 15 are union employees. Works jointly with

other departments to ensure that the facilities are maintained in an optimum

and efficient way, in line with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals,

Regulatory requirements, the Service Agreement, asset management schedule and

budget. Ensures that all maintenance staff strictly follows all safety

policies and instructions; use the required and appropriate PPE at all times

and demonstrate correct safety behaviors and recognition of hazards.

Ensures growth and development of existing staff and proper onboarding of new

maintenance staff.

The Maintenance Manager works in close coordination with project administrative

and Supply Chain Management staff for the requisitioning, supply and payment

for required materials, equipment and contracted services.
