MassMutual Financial Reporting & Projections Specialist in Springfield, Massachusetts

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly created team responsible for performing Forecast Liability Projections within Corporate Actuarial and Business Analytics (CABA) at MassMutual. As a member of this new team, this individual will help deliver the quarterly production and enhance our inforce liability projections in support of the company’s financial forecast. In addition, this individual will support the development of tools to enable more robust modeling of key liability drivers and allow for better attribution of results. This role provides exposure to and learning opportunities across MassMutual’s products.

The Impact

  • Produce quality and timely liability projection results and provide analysis in support of the company’s Forecast and Plan

  • Support the quarterly production and reporting process of US Statutory and GAAP reserve projections and other actuarial items impacting the Forecast income statement and balance sheet

  • Partner closely with valuation and FP&A teams in delivering forecast results

  • Respond to inquiries related to liability forecast from key customers and manage expectations for deliverables

  • Provide support to activities that improve projections infrastructure and processes

  • Help perform routine production runs and testing of projection models

  • Support analysis of projections under baseline and sensitivity scenarios

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

  • Minimum of 3 years' financial reporting and/or financial planning experience

  • Working knowledge of US insurance products

  • Familiarity with financial statements, financial reporting, general ledger systems, and/or insurance company administrative/data platforms

  • Ability to document processes and communicate work to various stakeholders

  • Experience with MS Office, including Excel, Word, etc.

  • Continuous improvement mindset

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within and across teams

  • Working knowledge of life insurance and annuity products valuation and financial reporting

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, statutory financial statements

  • Experience with actuarial projections and modeling software such as AXIS, Prophet
