Job Title: Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Location: US (South Deerfield, MA)

Reports To: Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance

Job Summary:

Functions as a core member within the Global Regulatory Compliance Team, supporting the development and maintenance of systems and processes for the continuity and growth of the business, utilizing core product stewardship principles. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist actively supports the business functions to integrate product compliance and risk management controls during all phases of product development, commercialization, and portfolio maintenance. This includes formulation management, regulatory applicability determination and prioritization, component and product classifications, impact and risk assessment, and related information management. In addition, this position reviews and advises on marketing claims and intellectual property, and will provide direct customer support on regulatory topics.


Provide highly specialized review and assessment to Product Development, Brand & Marketing, Legal, and other departments from a product stewardship and regulatory compliance perspective. Ensure the coordination and effective communication with global compliance team members, engineers, program leads, and Brand personnel.

  • Support specificbusiness needs as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for multiple topics, asdirected by management. Function as project lead by enhancing scope ofinternal compliance capabilities.

  • Analyze, understand, andcommunicate risks associated with raw materials and products to internalstakeholders such as R&D, purchasing, and brand & marketing teams.

  • Actively support themaintenance and development departmental knowledgebase for all material andproduct concerns.

  • Respond to customerinformation requests related to specific regulatory issues.

  • Ability to author SafetyData Sheets (SDS) and related hazard label content for a global product mix.

  • Actively support thedesign and implementation of tools and systems to assure compliance with globalchemical control legislation (including TSCA, OSHA, EU REACH & CLP, CPSC,FHSA, CCPSA-CCCR, Korea ARECS, among others).

  • Develop and providerequired stakeholder training on product stewardship and regulatory complianceissues.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree inscience or engineering, majoring in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,Toxicology, or Environmental Science (M.S. in science or engineering a plus).

  • Three to six (3 - 6) ormore years’ experience in chemical and/or discrete manufacturing under a formalproduct regulatory discipline.

  • Must be knowledgeable in2 or more of the following areas: A. Hazard Communicationand associated systemsB. Global ChemicalInventory and Substance Registration / NotificationC. EU CLP and/or UN GHSD. Consumer Productreview and labelingE. Regulatory support ofNew Product DevelopmentF. Hardware / Equipment ProductRegulatory AssessmentG. Other related global substancecontrol regulations and strategies.

  • Strong organizational,analytical, and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on ContinuousImprovement / Process Optimization. Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven personnel andproject management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks/projectssimultaneously.

  • Must have directexperience reviewing and assessing Chemical Control Legislation and interactingwith Global Competent Authorities and NGOs.

  • Strong computer skills(i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Stewardship Software tools).

  • Exceptionalwritten/verbal/interpersonal communication skills, which includetechnical/program writing, demonstrated training experience, and/orpresentation abilities.

  • Must be able to:
