Position Title: Director Sales Planning
Location: South Deerfield, MA
Reports To: Vice President of Sales
The Director of Sales Planning will develop and implement strategies to increase distribution, sales, and profit for the Home Fragrance Division. The Director leads the team responsible for customer-specific planning, funding, budgets and analytics, defining customer product assortments, developing and executing omni-channel customer activation and leading development of sales resources for the sales team. The Director will be accountable for preservation of existing business and creation of new business opportunities working with the Sales Teams -- maintaining, driving and developing sales strategies to ensure sales execution against key strategic priorities.
Translate business strategy into marketplace activities with understanding of underlying financials including ROI.
Partner with Finance and Trade Strategy to define trade and funding guidelines and budgets by channel and customer, and work with Sales to develop plans within budgets and guidelines.
Collaborate with Trade Strategy and Finance on customer specific pricing. Analyze customer pricing and distribution for Newell and competitive brands.
Lead the Annual Planning process and develop calendar of activities for the Home Fragrance Division.
Drive optimized Line Reviews across the top 10 Customers partnering with Sales and key cross functional partners.
Lead and partner with sales to take Trade Strategy’s recommended category assortments and planogram layouts and tailor them to top customers to optimize performance of shelf set, including optimal SKU assortment, merchandising and shelf layout.
Ensure successful new product launch and merchandising initiatives are in place across top customers.
Collaborate with the Sales Team to drive optimized promotional and activation plans including promotional over under plans, feature ads, displays, in-store merchandising, signage, and customer-specific marketing plans and materials. Collaborates with Brand Activation to ensure consistency with brand guidelines and national campaigns.
In partnership with Trade Strategy and Sales, drive quality forecasts for new product launches and extensions.
Develop, maintain and communicate customer level tracking, reporting and recaps of seasonal assortments, promotional plans, activation plans, strategic sales initiatives, customer feedback, POS performance, and delivery against plans.
Provide quarterly and seasonal customer POS performance analysis identifying what’s working, not working, best practices, competitive watch-outs to drive to recommendations to deliver against plan and win in the category.
Gather competitive and customer marketplace intelligence and share with the organization, ultimately constructing a competitive profile and comp shop analysis in conjunction with Trade Strategy.
Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred.
8+ years’ related experience working with CPG Industry.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and cross functional partners in a dynamic environment.
Ability to develop and manage budgets and programs with strong financial acumen.
Strong negotiation skills.
Superior communication, presentation and people skills.
Excellent time management, and people management.
Strong Computer skills (e.g., Excel/Word/PowerPoint--Microsoft Office Suite).
Knowledge of retail accounts, market characteristics, competitive environment, growth opportunities.
