Position Title: Customs Compliance Manager
Location: South Deerfield, MA
Reports to: Director of Supply Chain #LI-bb1
The Customs Compliance Manager’s primary job function is to ensure Customs regulations adherence for international trade activities. To ensure the seamless flows of import, export and cross border products of Newell Brands Home Fragrance Business Unit. Provide accurate product classifications, valuation and customs broker management. Compliantly mitigate duty spend in the countries in which Fragrance does business.
Maintain responsibility for oversight of U.S. compliancefunctions, as well as participate in day-to-day activities of U.S. compliancefunctions.
Global operations, provide oversight and guidance for globaltrade compliance activities
Work closely with external parties,such as customs brokers, freight forwarders and suppliers to drive continuousimprovement and to ensure regulatory compliance. Audit U.S. Customs Import entries and US ExportShipments. Participate in QuarterlyBusiness Reviews (QBR’s) with service providers.
Maintain appropriate recordkeeping and due diligence inaccordance with all governing regulatory requirements. Demonstratecorporate importer of record reasonable care and best practices.
Manage all compliance import/exportresponsibilities, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification,Restricted Party Screening and Sanctioned Countries. Assign HTS codes for new products and maintain an accurateHTS database for US, Canada and overseasfacilities
Manage the movement of products/equipment/materials inand/or out of the countries Fragrance does business in accordance withorganizational policy and procedure, and in compliance with relevantlocal, country and international law and process.
Support external audits from customs authorities,initiate necessary petitions and manage local certification procedures.
Manage the Import / Export Controlspolicy (procedures, documentation and manuals) and conduct regular internaltrade compliance audits/reviews to assure trade compliance effectiveness
Coordinatereporting of Royalties, Assists and other additions to the customs value
Preparemonthly ACH duty payment reports
Implementand participate in the Importer Self-Assessment Program
Implementand participate on implementation on new processes e.g. Amber Road HTSmanagement
Assistin creation and updating of SOP’s to ensure documented policies reflect currentpractice
PerformNAFTA and other Free Trade Agreement qualification analysis
PrepareNAFTA and FTA certificates for customers and subsidiaries as needed
Buildan environment of collaboration with internal cross functional partners,including but not limited to: Logistics,Customer Service, Purchasing, Sourcing, Accounting and Supply Chain Departments
Facilitateresolution of supply chain disruptions related to Customs or other governmentagencies requirements
Participatein other Customs compliance activities within Newell Brands Qualifications:
Minimum:Bachelor’s Degree, 7 -10+ years of Export - ImportCompliance experience preferably within a manufacturing environment. At least 2years at managerial level.
Preferred: Licensed Customs Broker
Related Experience/Requirements :
Fiveto ten years of experience in Customs compliance working in a corporateenvironment for an importer and exporter.
Knowledge of international import/exportshipping and documentation.
Must have technical expertise andin-depth knowledge of all aspects of Export/Import management including:classification, prohibited party screening, routed transactions, valuation,landed cost, country of origin, duties, protests, liquidations,reconciliations, NAFTA, free trade agreements, anti-boycott language, AES, EntryDocuments, Commercial Invoices and Country of Origin.
Solidcomputer skills with Microsoft Office products
Preferred:Proficiency in Oracle and Trade Management Software
Abilityto approach all responsibilities with a continuous improvement mindset strivingto identify improvements in all processes
Abilityto work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Demonstratedability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
Continueskill development in general trade compliance and business issues
Excellentoral and written communication skills
