Shell’s Renewables & Energy Solutions business was created in 2016 and leads the development and growth of Shell’s integrated power business, including low-carbon sources like wind and solar, new mobility options like electric vehicle charging and lower-carbon fuel options like hydrogen for industry and road transport. Shell continues to provide customers with more renewable and low-carbon power, helping customers to switch to these options through energy solutions and decarbonisation services.

What is the role?

The successful candidate will report to the OFW development manager in the Offshore Wind team. Over the coming years the exact offshore wind scope for this role is expected to evolve as the industry is anticipated to see many changes. Shell will adjust accordingly, and further organisational growth and alignment may then be considered.


  • Identification, shaping and development of opportunities for Shell in a subset of South and Central America markets

  • Supporting the GM, LATAM Business Development Manager and colleagues in structuring and analysis of activities and deals

  • As a member of a global team you will work internationally with commercial colleagues, opportunity leads, technical and finance experts within Offshore Wind and the wider Renewables and Energy Solutions (R&ES) community.

  • Support Shell in creating excellent relationships with NGOs and government authorities to drive Shell’s strategic agenda and develop local strategic partnerships.

  • Evaluate and mature opportunities. In offshore wind this includes leading/guiding the preparation of tenders and investment decisions.

  • Reviewing/analysing all relevant HSSE, technical, commercial, legal, fiscal, political and organizational aspects of offshore wind opportunities.

  • Lead conversations and participate in commercial negotiations with 3rd parties, creating the framework for shell colleagues to work within.

  • Input into the OFW project pipeline, producing regular updates for strategic reviews and gap analysis against the Americas ambitions.

  • Engage with neighbouring countries and offshore wind projects to maximize integrated value and learning opportunities.

  • Represent OFW organisation internally within Country and Energy Transitioning Team

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience within the power value chain is a must

  • Experience in commercial origination, Power, in Renewable Generation, or in Offshore Wind can be a decisive gap

  • Track record in market analysis and strategy development

  • Participating in opportunities and a multi-disciplinary project team from identification to execution

  • Experience within teams of preparing capital investment decisions and Shell ORS

  • Track record of building and managing relationships, working directly with various businesses and functions as well as 3rd parties to deliver solutions.

  • Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process, performance management and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table.

  • Change management capacity and ability to embed new ways of working to effectively deliver this dynamic and growing business.

  • Comfortable with the principles of Economics, Finance, Contracting and Procurement, General Management

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, good commercial acumen and the ability to operate within a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

  • Proficiency in English, Spanish and Portuguese

  • Experienced in cross-functional working group collaboration
