The Health Engagement Program Manager is responsible for maintenance of and contributing to the oversight, management and ongoing development of BCBSMA’s Health Engagement portfolio for assigned programs. This position will focus on using market research and consumer insights to create actionable program roadmaps. The Health Engagement Program Manager will exhibit effective cross-functional project management and leadership skills; build and market innovative new programs, partner with vendors to ensure programs work well; build strong internal and external relationships; and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. The Program Manager will champion initiatives and collaborate with multiple internal and external business partners to support ongoing activities related to the Program portfolio management and development. This position plays a critical role in supporting the ongoing success of our Health Engagement Program portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as Health Engagement Program owner and expert for assigned programs and a relationship manager to the core clients primarily Sales, providing subject matter expertise and direction to sales in support of account management, retention and new sales goals.

  • Responsible for program management and maintenance activities ensuring program integrity and consistent and accurate delivery and administration of programs, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable governing and business rules, as required.

  • Develop and execute program strategies by market availability; consider opportunities to create more alignment within the portfolio.

  • Apply market segmentation strategies to define and execute new program offerings and changes that meet market segment specific needs.

  • Gather input and requirements from Sales, Marketing, Finance and other business areas to identify and define program features and propose changes that would add the most value in our target markets.

  • Follow the department’s program launch processes for new program development initiatives as applicable (i.e. deliver programs and projects using accepted processes and ensuring business, product lifecycle and market facing needs are met).

  • Utilizes understanding of the business and program delivery models to evaluate proposed solutions, probe options, provide feedback, insight and recommendations, translating appropriate business needs into business and/or technology change requests.

  • Monitor the success of Health Engagement programs and offerings throughout the product lifecycle, and continually streamline the portfolio, as needed.

  • Contribute to the non-standard requests process; and represent team at these discussions.

  • Provide support to the sales effort on an as-required basis for broker and customer visits presentations and trainings, providing subject matter expertise in responding to RFP and RFR requests.

  • Lead and/or co-lead multiple workgroups and implementation teams, collaboratively working with internal and external key functional areas as needed to support and advance the ongoing development of the Health Engagement Program portfolio.

  • Work closely with and develop strong relationships with internal business partners such as Sales, Health Strategists, Vendor Management, Product Management and Finance to ensure that mutual needs are met.

  • Ensure corporate-wide understanding of and support for Health Engagement Programs through training programs, communication plans, educational initiatives and development of sales tools.

  • Monitor assigned Health Engagement program performance and take appropriate action to make recommendations to meet market needs, improve retention and gain new business.

  • Responsible for B2B and B2B2C marketing communications in partnership with Product Marketing and ensure that all documentation is accurate and kept up to date.

  • Represent Health Engagement team interests on corporate implementation teams and workgroups, assessing and addressing impacts of changes to the Program portfolio.

  • Contribute to high-level strategies for positively impacting corporate strategic priorities.

Qualifications: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare industry, health and wellness and market trends.

  • Experience managing a portfolio of programs or products.

  • Ability to successfully lead teams and build consensus to accomplish goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Effective public speaking skills.

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven project management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Must have the ability to influence others, even in tough business situations

  • Proven research and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex data and develop recommendations.

  • Must have a good grasp of marketing communications and understand how advertising, direct marketing and collateral are used to achieve goals.

Education/Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher strongly preferred.

  • 5 - 10 years relevant industry experience – health insurance and wellness preferred.

  • Experience in management of business functions, and/or project management.

  • Computer and Software Skills: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, OLB, Data Bases (MS Access & Data Warehouse a plus).
